In 1895, a group of women (and Dr. Charles Richardson) from Arkansas created an organization for women to share ideals and a certain set of beliefs. 120 years later, Chi Omega has become the largest fraternal organization in the world with over 330,000 initiates and 178 collegiate chapters. Through this growth and expansion, Chi Omega has left a mark on the hearts of all women who have the distinguished honor to bare its crest. Aside from living everyday in the light of its purposes, here are 15 ways to know, without a doubt, you are a Chi Omega:

1. Owls have taken over your entire life.

You even shout, "Hoot! Hoot! Hoot!" when good things happen. It's almost getting out of hand.

2. You have thought (more than once) about naming your cat Jobelle, because…Obviously.

She was one of the first to ever do it and her name is adorable. What else do you need?

3. Every trip you plan with your sisters includes a pit stop in Memphis.

Headquarters is sacred ground and you love it more than your actual house.

4. “Forming the Chi” is your go-to dance move.

We had this move down way before Beyoncé — but she is the queen so we will happily share.

5. When a celebrity throws “XO” in the air, you automatically feel like you are best friends.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis know what's up.

6. “Be womanly always” is your favorite argument.

A sister getting sassy? "Be womanly always." Halloween costume a little too risque? "Be womanly always." Your mom is angry that you spent your paycheck on a new pin-wear dress? "Be womanly always."

7. You get too excited when New Members finally get to say the oath.

It is a proud moment when you hear your rush crush say it during and after initiation. You go, little one!

8. You reserve the right to celebrate 365 days after raising $31,000 for Make-A-Wish.

Need a group of women to work all summer to raise money for a world-wide organization that makes a difference for so many children who need it? Give us a call.

9. Whether or not it is actually true, you definitely have the best group of New Members on campus.

They are ours and we couldn't be more proud. Only the best join the nest.

10. Anytime Angela Kinsey puts a Chi Omega-themed picture on Instagram, the word “sister” is whispered into your heart.

Yes, Sister Kinsey, we feel you. #ChiOTilWeDieO

11. Being featured on National’s social media basically means you’re famous.

Who needs People Magazine when you have Insta?

12. You love Fall more than any other season because it is acceptable to wear cardinal and straw every day of the week.

We look great in anything but you'll never meet another group with so much red and yellow in their closets. Never.

13. You have been raising the young girls in your family to become legacies.

You will be a Chi Omega and you will like it. Unless it's not your thing... Then we will talk.

14. Your heart almost bursts when you see senior sisters crying during “Shades.”

You hold each other at the end of recruitment because you know it will be the last time you sing it for a while.

15. You will never take your letters for granted because you have never been more proud to be apart of something so much bigger than yourself. “Chi Omega, yours forever.”

These women will change your life. And for that, Chi Omega, we thank you.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…
