I'm just trying to give a big shout out to my fellow VPA Bucs in the wonderful Buc Nation we have. I hated a lot of things about this school, but this was definitely not one of them. Sending love to all my fellow drama majors and everyone else!
1. Sports are an ongoing joke that will really never die.
What is a sport ball? Goal? How does this even work? Why was the football team good that one time? Idk.
2. Finding out the shows for the year is always the most exciting and disappointing part.
Shakespeare? PLEASE? JUST ONE.
3. You have the label and you are just way too proud of it.
Heck yeah I was a drama major and you know darn well I'm proud of it. I may not have done much with actually acting, but that's not the point here. You bet that walking in the theater was my favorite time of the day.
4. You become SO overprotective of your fellow majors.
Especially when a teacher has a little something to say to one of you classmates. We always have a little attitude to go with it.
5. Walking around in a costume became way too normal.
The amount of times I would walk around in a silky robe was actually disturbing.
6. There will always be someone that is salty about the cast list.
Even when it's 3 years later...
7. You are more likely than not going to experience a friend group incest situation.
Why. Just why. It's never good. Literally ALWAYS a mess.
8. One song lyric will most likely break an entire room into song and dance.
Get out your tap shoes, Francis!
9. You will work backstage at least one show and that will be your downfall.
The rope burns from opening and closing the curtain may fade, but the memories will forever be with me.
10. Same goes for props.
Need I say more. This was the worst. I didn't even do much. Sorry about that.
11. The comfort of walking into your VPA classroom was similar to going into your bed.
The weight of the day is quickly taken off your shoulders when you walk into the room. Also, the amount of times I have taken off an article of clothing in the theater is concerning.
12. This was literally your face when any teacher told you to go eat in the cafeteria.
"Go be with the rest of the student body!!!!" No thank you.
13. There is nothing better than walking around school with some form of promotion for your show.
Whether it's paint on your shirt, a poster, or just hearing it over the announcements, it is always the best time when a show gets promoted around the school. The teachers could also tell that it was show time when you were practically unresponsive in class and they would force you to go to the theater and sleep.
14. You remember the warm ups so quickly.
DON'T TOUCH THAT, THAT'S MINE!
15. The amount of love and support for one another does not end when you receive your diploma.
I am so proud of all my fellow drama majors and everyone else that I was lucky to surround myself with during my four years at RBR. It was a fantastic ride because of all of you. Thank you.
