15 Signs You And Your Roommate Are A Married Couple

You may not have wedding bands, but you probably have corny best friend necklaces.

1. Your parents ask about her when they call.

Not only that, but she has a standing invite to dinner every time your family comes to visit.

2. She buys you chocolate when you’ve had a long day.

Or sometimes just because. She always seems to know when you need a bag of peanut M & Ms or a carton of Ben & Jerry’s.

3. You have been on more dinner dates than you can count.

You most likely have a designated table at every restaurant near campus and she probably knows your order at each of them.

4. You guys each have a side of the bed.

Every time friends from home come to visit, the two of you inevitably wind up in the same bed. At this point you have sharing a twin extra long bed without someone falling out down to a science.

5. Galentine’s Day is a thing in your room.

Whether it’s a dinner date or eating ice cream and watching Netflix in your sweat pants, she’s definitely your favorite person to celebrate with.

6. You’ve sent out holiday cards together.

Since you live in different states and are therefore forced to spend the holidays apart, you take advantage of the time at school to ring in the spirit together.

7. She knows when you have a bad day.

And there’s no lying to her about it.

8. People refer to her as your other half.

People are shocked when they see you without her and you probably respond to each other’s names.

9. You have a go-to pose for pictures.

It’s been taken at parties, around campus and any other place you go together. You restrain yourself from posting every one of them on social media because let’s face it; you know you’re adorable.

10. She knows what music you like.

And you know every musician in her favorite band. Even though you don’t agree on every song, you have probably compiled a playlist of songs you can agree on.

11. You spend hours talking at night.

It seems like every time you should be going to bed early, something excruciatingly important – like presidential candidates or the kid that showed up drunk to class – comes up.

12. There’s a mutual understanding everything is shared.

Whether it’s food, clothes, or toilet paper, you know it will all even out eventually. You also don’t worry about germs because if one of you gets sick the other is doomed anyway.

13. You own at least one set of matching shirts.

And you have worn them in public together more than once.

14. She fills up your water bottle without you asking.

Most likely because she knows if she doesn’t you’ll ask her next time she walks by.

15. You don’t have to ask if you’re living together again next year.

Let’s be real, you’d rather live in a box with her than anywhere else without her.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
