15 signs you're a server
waiter

So we all know someone who is a server or you yourself have worked in the food industry. Well this is a little listicle of all your favorite sayings, habits, and rituals all servers have come to know and love.

1. "Heard"

Over time you have realized that when someone is talking you commonly respond with the word "heard". You like to let them know that you have heard what they have said. Usually you have to say this in the kitchen to let EVERYONE know that you do actually know what you're doing.

2. You have mastered the art of short hand.

For example you shorten words like water and coke to WA and CO or DC for diet coke. You notice that this becomes a problem when you're actually writing with those words in the wrong context. On top of that your handwriting looks like complete crap and sometimes you can't even read what you have written down.

3. Balance

You have either awesome balance on your arms and can stack up to 3-4 items across your arms or you're a plate one hand type of person. Either way you definitely know how to carry some plates and you get the job done.

4. You have a bad habit of telling people when a plate is hot.

Whether you're at a family gathering or serving your table, you always let the saying come out "Now be careful this plate is hot". Then someone touches the plate and says "Ow, that's hot."

5. You naturally pick up everyone's plate at dinner and whisk them away to the kitchen sink.

Yet again another weird habit you can't really control. It's like a reflex.

6. Speaking of reflexes, yours are pretty much awesome.

You can catch things without even knowing it's falling. Or you're just one of those who are really clumsy and everything hits the floor all the time. Which is unfortunate not only in your serving life, but regular life as well.

7. When you go out to eat you are always silently judging your waiter or waitress because you know you can do what they're doing.

There's no way the kitchen actually forgot your fries or baked potato.

8. Speaking of eating out, you feel super uncomfortable overtime you go out with someone who is horrible to the servers.

Someone who waves their arms at the server, asks to change tables (or even worse sections), and the absolute worse thing, when someone jokes about how they hated the food when they ate all of it. Don't do it.

9. When ever you do go out to eat you tend to stack the plates.

Not gonna lie, I love when people do this. And if you do it perfectly, your server will love you.

10. You're an absolute boss at slicing fruit.

Yeah sounds odd to anyone who isn't a server but you kill this job. Lemons, no problem, you want little spirals? wedges? halves? You name it we can do it. Oranges, Limes, any other garnish for a fruity cocktail can be sliced basically perfect.

11. You kinda always let people know when you're around.

For example, "on your back," "beside you," "behind you," and "coming through" basically any of these phrases are pretty common in your vocabulary no matter the situation. Your non server friends just kinda stare at you when you say any of these.

12. The Menu

You may not be able to remember what you learned in your trig class or bio but you definitely know your menu backwards and forwards and all the modifications for any food on the menu.

13. You have been rolling silverware pretty much your whole life.

Or that's what it feels like, and it's never ending.

14. Tipping

When you go out to eat with friends you always lecture them on how they should tip then proceed to teach them how to tip. Let's get real your non server friends don't understand the struggle.

15. Lastly speaking of tipping, you always do it.

Even when the service really wasn't that great you at least leave 20%, or try to.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

school
blogspot

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
