Being in a sorority is a life-changing experience. For many women, it is an integral part of their college journey. Since 1904, more than 165,000 women have found their home with Alpha Gamma Delta. We all share the same ideals and passions and our letters unite us in a bond unlike any other. Here are 15 signs you're an Alpha Gam.

1. You're obsessed with squirrels

Whenever you see something related to squirrels, you freak out. Chances are, you have at least two breakable squirrel-themed items and countless others in various forms all over your dorm, house, car, etc...

2. You love donuts

When your sorority's nickname is Alpha Grabba Donut, you sort of learn to embrace it. In fact, your chapter might even have a philanthropy event dedicated to donuts.

3. Pearls are your favorite accessory

They're classic, timeless, and the symbol of your sisterhood. Whenever you need to dress up an outfit, pearls are your go-to. What's better than representing your sorority, and looking fabulous while doing it?

4. Every T-shirt you own has your letters on it

And you have way too many to fit in your drawer. With all the mandatory shirts you have to buy and all the adorable event shirts you buy either way, by the time you've finished your first year as an Alpha Gam you'll be living in your letters 24/7. (Also, S/O to google for giving me a picture of shirts from my chapter!)

5. You know what green asparagus plumosa fern is

What most people would call a green addition to a flower bouquet means so much more to you than anyone could ever know.

6. You know what buff looks like

Buff: It's your favorite shade of yellow, not a strong guy or a way to take care of cars.

7. You'll never forget the name Georgia Alberta Dickover

Even if you forgot everything else from your new member period, you will always remember Georgia Alberta Dickover's name (And snicker every time you hear it, too.)

8. You're not a "typical" sorority girl

When people hear sorority girl, they think "Legally Blonde" type girls. Alpha Gam girls aren't the screaming, boy crazy, party-ers that you see portrayed on TV. But either way, you love this movie. I mean, after all, a sister wrote the screenplay!

9. You can be yourself around your sisters

Yes, that is a picture of me with my big. This is us on a daily basis. We're crazy and proud of it. Alpha Gamma Delta allows us to express ourselves and be as weird as we want. I never feel awkward around my sisters and I'm always, always myself.

10. You understand the importance of philanthropy

Alpha Gamma Delta supports the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. We work to provide research and awareness about diabetes. We all have a heart for service, love our philanthropy, and find ways to support it, everyday.

11. You strive for Pi

This doesn't mean you're really hungry for some sweets, it means you earn a GPA of 3.14 in a semester. You know how important scholarship is to your sorority and you keep that in high regards. Striving for Pi shows you care and put forth effort into your studies.

12. You know how to "Inspire the Woman, Impact the World"

You know that every woman you meet is a chance to be an inspiration. Whether she be young, old, or in between, what you do to inspire her will make a lasting impact on this world and you know that. You help inspire women everywhere with your purpose.

13. You participated in the Fourteen Pearls Challenge

And you understand the Purpose that much better because of it. Each chapter does this differently, but we all did it in our new member experience. This taught us how to apply the Purpose to our everyday lives and showed us what it means to be an Alpha Gam woman.

14. You know how to live the Purpose in your everyday life

Speaking of knowing how to apply the Purpose, you take each line to heart and live it out to the fullest extent. Each line has a real role in your day to day life and you show it when you wear your letters. You live the purpose and embody the Alpha Gamma Delta spirit.

15. You wouldn't trade your sisterhood for the world

My sisters mean the world to me. I don't know what I would do without them. As an Alpha Gam woman, you know this and treasure the bond you have with sisters, both from your chapter and from around the world! Whenever you meet a sister, you know you're meant to be friends for life. You share a bond that goes deeper than blood. You share Alpha Gamma Delta.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
