Now that winter break has started, and you suddenly have absolutely nothing to do, its time to explore. Here are 15 restaurants to try over break!


1. Armadillo Grill

Located in both Raleigh and Carrboro, this is the best southwestern food out there. Priced about the same as Moe's or Chipotle, there is no comparison when it comes to taste. Armadillo grill has the best queso on the market.

2. Elmo's Diner

Tucked away in the back corner of Carr Mill Mall in Carrboro, Elmo's is perfect for brunch with the fam. The chocolate chip pancakes are the perfect start to any day.

3. Lily's Pizza

Hippy pizza with the best crust Raleigh has to offer. If you are looking for a change in pizza pace, Lily's will reignited your love for this college staple.

4. Carrburritos

Carrburritos has delicious hipster burritos in a very cool setting. They have fresh ingredients, and are a great option for people who don't eat meat with their sweet potato burritos! Locations in both Carrboro and Davidson!

5. Krispy Kreme

Hot and ready. Nothing in life is more satisfying than rolling up to Krispy Kreme to see that neon sign lit. Original glazed is the way to go.

6. Sup Dog's

On Franklin St. and in Greenville, this dog friendly hot dog shop will change your life. You can order hot dogs, burgers, and the best bacon cheese fries in the Carolinas, and crazy creations of their own, but remember to ALWAYS get the Sup sauce.

7. Brixx Pizza

Pizza, pasta, and beer. Brixx wood fired pizza is hand made from scratch, and you can taste the love. With locations scattered across the south, their delectable creations are never too far.

8.Wings Over

"No Frill" wings in Greenville and Chapel Hill. Hand breaded, not processed, mouth watering spicy goodness. With both bone in and boneless wings, and a variety of sauces and rubs, any wing lover will find their perfect match at Wings Over.

9. Guglhupf

This beautiful bakery is located in Durham. The german delights are found inside a beautiful building with the most beautiful garden seating. Sweet treats, and an even sweeter view.

With lots of locations in North Carolina, if you are looking for a switch up from Krispy Kreme, Duck Donuts is like an adventure for your mouth. With a ton of different glazes and toppings, these made to order donuts are worth a drive.

11. Sushi Blues

Buy one get one roles named for Jazz greats, this restaurant is for cool cats. Continually voted "Best Sushi in the Triangles" this down town Raleigh spot is the perfect start to a night out.

12. Ye Olde Waffle Shoppe

Open from 7am to 2pm weekdays, and 8am to 2pm on weekend, Ye Olde is tucked away of Franklin St. You can watch them prepare homestyle breakfast with twists that will satisfy the youngster in you. I highly suggest the Reese's Pieces waffle.

13. Dame's Chicken & Waffles

Dame's offers sweet southern cooking with a high quality ingredients, and a whole lot of love. Durham's "Almost World Famous" restaurant also serves vegan waffles.

14. Gonza Tacos y Tequila

Tacos y Tequila y the dankest queso. Raleigh, Durham, and Wake Forest house this trendy Mexican restaurant. The art and colored lights makes you feel ten times cooler as soon as you walk in, and the food is crafted to perfection.

15. Cookout

Cookout just tastes like home. Their tray combo is the best deal you are ever going to find, and with 40 different milkshakes to try there is no going wrong.

Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.
