15 Reasons Why You Should Join A Sorority

Sorority girls are always given various types of stereotypes that drive girls away from joining a sorority. But in my opinion, joining a sorority is one of the best things I have ever done. It has given me amazing friendships and experiences and I'm just a sophomore. Here are just a few reasons why its been the best thing I've ever done and why you should do it too.

1. Recruitment and Bid Day.

One of the most stressful things you'll go through, but its totally worth it. There is no better feeling than after than receiving a bid and running to your new home and sisters.

2. Belonging.

Before joining a sorority, I always felt that there was something lacking in my college experience. After joining my sorority, I finally felt like I knew where I belonged. I gained these new amazing sisters and was ready for all the memories I was about to create.

3. Meeting people you wouldn't have met before.

Especially at the beginning of college, most of the people you will meet are the same major as you. But joining a sorority means that you will meet a bunch of girls with many different types of majors. This gives you the opportunity to learn from your sisters and to make friendships with people you may not have before.

4. Big/Little week.

Without a doubt one of the most fun and suspense filling weeks! Getting/giving all of the amazing gifts is great, but finally finding out who your Big is and getting to meet your Little overtops everything. *Shout out to my Big, Sarah Goodridge*

5. Always having someone to hang out with.

Whether you want a Netflix and food night or a night out in the town, you always have someone whose up for doing anything.

6. Guidance.

Being in a sorority means you have plenty of girls to go to when you need advice. Whether its about boys, girl drama, or just what to wear your girls will always help you out. And trust me, your girls will make sure you're with the right man.

7. Academic Support.

Don't worry, in a group full of college students there's always another person who procrastinated. Your sisters will be willing to stay up with you all night to help you study for that test and be ready to celebrate when you ace it.

8. Your wardrobe expands to a new level.

You now have tons of clothing options just by going to your sisters closets. Everyones willing to share to get you ready for that perfect night out.

9. Do whatever you want without feeling judged.

Your sisters love you for who you are and will never judge. Heck, they'll probably join you.

10. Social Life.

Being in a sorority gets you out of your shell and lets you have a great time with your sisters.

11. Sharing the same values.

A sorority is not just for the fun parties and getting to wear your letters. It's also about striving to do actions that reflect your philanthropy every day. Some of your best days as a sorority girl is doing all of the charity events and putting a smile on peoples faces.

12. Sisterhood.

Whether you have a real sister or not, you now have just gained over 100 of sisters. These sisters will be your best friends, support system and your squad on any given night.

13. Connections.

Being in a sorority gives you connections wherever you go. From going on vacation and running into another girl whose in your sorority, or being able to get a job from having a sorority on your resume. You never know how it can end up helping you later in life.

14. Memories.

Sorority or not, you're going to make some great college memories. But making them with your sisters will make your college experience all the better.

15. Life long sisters.

As they always say, its not just four years its for life. You will always be able to depend on your sisters throughout all of life's endeavors. Whether you're going through a bad time or need a sister to be in your wedding, your sisters will be there for life.

I could go on and on about all the amazing outcomes of joining a sorority, but you should join one to see them all for yourself. Sorority life has been one of the best experiences for me and I know it will be for you too.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
