15 Reasons Why We Love Peggy Carter: A Tribute

First appearing in “Captain America: The First Avenger,” Margaret “Peggy” Carter stole the heart of every moviegoer. Peggy Carter is one of the most important characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it shows with her continued appearances both on television shows and movies. She fought for the Allies in World War II, moved to New York to work for the Strategic Scientific Reserve, and then helped bring S.H.I.E.L.D. into the world. She ultimately was granted her own television show appropriately titled “Agent Carter,” but ABC cut the show after only two seasons. So this one’s for you, Peggy. We miss you.

1. She defied all prejudices

Peggy Carter always faced ridicule for being a female in the field. She never backed down, though, and I think that's why so many people like her. She's relatable, and she fought against the patriarchy.

2. She helped others to do so too

Dr. Jason Wilkes was a scientist introduced in the second season of Peggy's show. He was continuously slandered for being a black scientist in the '50s, but Peggy once again didn't back down. She lifted him up in true social justice warrior style.

3. She was the basis for S.H.I.E.L.D.

The intelligence group that keeps the world safe? Yeah, she helped create that.

4. She was the one who Phil Coulson looked up to

Season three, episode 20 of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." showed Coulson mourning after Peggy's death before he explained to Agent May that she was the one that inspired him to become an agent himself.

5. Her love for Steve Rogers

She never gave up on him, and if that's not relationship goals, I don't know what is.

6. How everyone knew about their unrequited love.

Okay, so this scene broke my heart in "Captain America: Civil War." Their love quite literally transcended time, but with great love comes great loss.

7. Her fashion sense

Need I say more? She's stunningly gorgeous.

8. ...and how she still kicks major butt

Gorgeous and fierce.

9. Her twisted sense of humor

I'm just saying that I wouldn't want to be on her hit list.

10. Her relationship with Jarvis

This dynamic duo leaves nothing to be desired. #FriendshipGoals

11. Her relationship with Howard Stark

Howard Stark often supplies the comedic relief in the show, but when push comes to shove, they can always rely on each other.

12. How much others respect her

Her boss (Chad Michael Murray) even believes she knows what she's doing. It's basically confirmed that she's the best agent.

13. Her sassiness

If glares could kill, Peggy would be on the FBI's most wanted list.

14. Her overall cuteness

Come on. Who doesn't think she's a cute warrior?

15. Fnally her independence

Peggy is one tough cookie and fiercely independent, but that doesn't mean she doesn't absolutely cherish the people in her life.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
