15 Reasons I Love Being A Babysitter

You get paid to be a kid again.

I have been babysitting this wonderful family for 5 years now, and it has been the best years of my life. The family has 8 kids, (yes, you read that right), but I really only babysit the youngest four, who are 12, 10, 7, and 5. Watching them grow up has been a true blessing, and I have made so many great memories with these kids that I am not looking forward to the day when the mom says she won't need me anymore. Because, in between the tantrums and one too many episodes of "Paw Patrol," the job isn't half bad. Actually, that job is pretty damn good, and I couldn't think of a better way to spend my summers.

1. It's the best way to spend your days.

Kids are pretty awesome tiny humans. They are honest, funny, affectionate, and help you get out of your own head for a while.

2. It gives you a reason to relive your childhood days.

You can indulge in the movies, books, and games you loved as a child. And being a Disney expert gives you bonus points with the kids.

3. Your workout for the day is playing tag.

Tag, water balloon fights, nerf gun wars. Babysitting is basically a built-in cardio workout, so it's a win-win.

4. It gives you practice.

Working with kids is the best way to prepare yourself for handling your own kids someday. Your parenting skills are on fleek.

5. Flexibility!

This is probably the only time you'll ever be able to schedule according to your life. You can still hang out with your friends during the day and watch the children at night, or vice versa!

6. Kid food is the best food.

Grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, mac n' cheese, what's not to love? And if the kids get dessert, you get dessert. Everyone wins!

7. You get to go to places like the zoo, history museums, and science centers.

The best babysitters take their kids to fun places. And you get to relive your childhood while watching the kids enjoy themselves.

8. Bonding with kids is awesome.

Chances are good that you will have more in common with these kids than you thought.

9. You get paid to have fun.

Going to the park, getting ice cream, seeing a movie. Give me a better job than this.

10. No feeling is better than when a kid says you're their favorite babysitter.

When you get that hug hello or as a thank you for cleaning their scraped knee, that is all that matters in the world. And if a 5-year-old says you're cool, there is absolutely no higher honor.

11. Nap time is built into your schedule.

The kids have to sleep at some point. And when they finally close their eyes, you will have two or three glorious hours to yourself...until they wake up wanting to play again.

12. A hard day's work means a day at the playground.

I mean, who doesn't want to get paid to be outside when it's nice out?

13. The only stress you face is making sure you get to the play date on time.

The hardest part of your day is getting them in the car on time and not being late to their golf lessons or play date.

14. You become more creative and resourceful.

Pinterest is your best friend. Getting the kids to think you're the coolest thing since sliced bread when you create epic blanket forts or cardboard rocket ships give you the best superstar feeling.

15. You get to be there for the milestones.

I first started when the youngest one was born, and I've been to so many birthdays and watching them fly through grades. They've all grown up so fast, but it's the best feeling seeing them accomplish so much.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
