15 Reasons Why Going To School At The College Of Charleston Is Awesome

1. Charleston has been rated the nation's #1 city in the U.S. and Canada 2 years in a row.

2. When it rains, it pours, which means classes get cancelled. These days are referred to as "rain days."

3. The cistern is simply beautiful.

4. You can receive credit for taking aerobics, horseback riding, and sailing classes.

5. There are a variety of bars within walking distance from each other.

6. There are not distinctive nights that are considered "going out nights", because there is something to do every night (Dollar Monday, Tuesday Midtown Mug Night, Dollar Wednesday, Mynt Specials Thursday, and of course Friday-Sunday is a mixture of all the King St. possibilities).

7. Campus is located only one block away from King St., where you will find all of the food and shopping one could imagine.

8. Mark Bryan (founding member, songwriter, and guitarist for Hootie & the Blowfish) teaches a music class at the College. Also, Darius Rucker has taught at the College.

9. The library has a new, full-service Starbucks, which is now the 4th Starbucks location on Calhoun St.

10. The Notebook was filmed in downtown Charleston, just a few blocks from campus.

11. We have a quidditch team. Yes, like from Harry Potter.

12. It takes no longer than 5 minutes to walk from one building on campus to another.

13. Syllabus week just means you can party as much as you want for the first week of school without having any "real" obligations in any of your classes.

14. The College is 20 minutes away from the beach. It is crucial to strategically create your spring semester schedule so that you do not have classes on Friday.

15. We are one of the few schools who don't wear cap and gown on graduation. Girls wear white dresses, and the guys wear summer tuxedos, which is so much better.
