As someone who grew up watching the incredibly diverse, amazingly intriguing early 2000s Disney Channel, it is easy for me to find MANY reasons why it is far superior to what is being aired now. For those of you who may claim it is a bias, here is all of my proof that the 00's Disney Channel was the best.
1. Kim Possible
Premiering June 7, 2002 and finishing September 7, 2007, Kim Possible has been a fan favorite for a long time. Not to mention she is still one of the most popular halloween costumes for our generation.
2. Phil of the Future
Running from June 18, 2004 through August 19, 2006, Phil of the Future was a genuinely feel good comedy. While some of us were to young to quite understand all of the humor, there was plenty of comic relief within the characters.
3. That's So Raven
From January 17, 2003 to November 10, 2007, Raven Simone stole our hearts in arguably the greatest Disney Channel show to date. That's So Raven was not only a comedy, but it was an empowering, uplifting show that questioned a lot of social norms.
4. Motocrossed
Released February 16, 2001, Motocrossed had a controversial plot line that questioned gender norms and called out senseless inequalities, that acted as empowerment to our young minds.
5. Hannah Montana
From March 24, 2006 to January 16, 2011, Hannah Montana was a show filled with life lessons about best friends, secrets, and boys. While we probably cannot expect a Hannah Montana reunion anytime soon, we can expect reruns of the entire series to be played this December on Disney Channel (just saying!)
6. Twitches
Aired October 14, 2005, Twitches told the story of every little girl's dream, discovering a twin sister AND magical powers at the same time. I mean, what more could you ask for in a movie?
7.Suite Life of Zack and Cody
These twins warmed our hearts from March 18, 2005 to September 1, 2008. The humorous, witty comedy proved to be a greatly popular show of it's time, and is often remembered for relatable jokes and hilarious contents.
8. Cadet Kelly
Released March 8, 2002, Cadet Kelly was a movie that every kid growing up in the 2000s grew to love. A strong-willed female lead matched with a 'lovely' sense of 2000s fashion made this movie a hit for many.
9. Wizards of Waverly Place
While Wizards made it's debut on October 12, 2007, it stuck around all the way to January 6, 2012. Arguably the favorite show of my childhood, Wizards of Waverly Place taught lessons on friendship, family issues, love, and even self discovery and value.
10. High School Musical
Even though it was released on January 20, 2006, we all still know the lyrics to every song. You cannot deny that Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez danced and sang their ways into our hearts.
11. Cory in the House
Cory in the House only aired between January 12, 2007 and September 12, 2008, but it sure was a show to talk about. Seeing a comedic perspective on the presidential position created an immensely enjoyable show.
12. The Cheetah Girls
August 15, 2003 these four girls sassed their ways into our lives. The Cheetah Girls were a strong group of girls proving that music can help fix many upsetting situations. The Cheetah Girls also told us to believe in ourselves, and to not give up on our dreams.
13. Lizzie McGuire
The backbone of many good childhood memories stems from Lizzie Mcguire, which aired from January 12, 2001 to February 14, 2004. This show brought pure happiness to many people, and still does to this day.
14. Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior
Released June 16, 2006, Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior taught us all about making difficult choices in life. This dramatic film made many of us question what the right thing is to do, rather than what might make us happy.
15. Even Stevens
Premiering on June 17, 2000 and ending on June 13, 2003, Even Stevens was a show to remember. Troublesome friends, hilarious plot lines, and childhood Shia Lebeouf, need I say more?
16. That's So Suite Life of Hannah Montana
What is better than our favorite shows? How about a bunch of our favorite shows put together to make one epic collaborative episode? Yeah, I know. That's So Suite Life of Hannah Montana aired July 28, 2006, and it will go down as one of the greatest combination episodes of all time.
17. The Disney Channel Games
Hands down the best televised event of many childhood summers, the Disney Channel games brought all of our favorite actors and actresses together for some clean, healthy competition, proving once more that Disney Channel in the 2000s was clearly the greatest.
