15 Reasons Why 2017 Is Going To Be Great

I don’t know about you, but I’m really excited for 2017. It’s just so weird that we’re so close to 2020… I hate growing up. But here’s why I know 2017 will be bomb:

1. Another year of living means another year to finally get your crap together.

(even though we say we’re going to and we end up failing… THAT’S OKAY!)

2. Another semester to try harder and do your best.

(We can do this.)

3. Another opportunity to spread love to people you know and don’t know.

Giving a smile on the street or around campus is not hard. Love everyone, PLEASE!

4. Another chance to get back into shape

(hello… shout out to the gyms with their specials during the New Year)

5. You are another step closer to graduating.

Hello, I’m talking to you freshman-juniors, and sophomores, everyone forgets about sophomores

6. OR YOU ARE GRADUATING THIS YEAR!

CONGRATS SENIORS!

7. Maybe, in 2017, you and your significant other are going to hit ANOTHER (or first) anniversary!

Look at that, love is in the air people.

8. You might even find love in 2017.

There are things to look forward to, come on now

9. The movies coming out in 2017 are BOMB AF! LIKE, let’s be real here. Incredibles 2!! LET’S GO

10. You get another year to show your family you love them

Because nothing in this world is more important than family

11. You have another year to get more involved at school or in your family or at work

You realize that there is no such thing as “too late” I just simply don’t believe that at all. If you want something, get it. Please.

12. New opportunities to make new friends

Let’s make it a point to stay OPEN MINDED this year. Who knows, maybe you’ll meet your BFF this year.

13. Another year to spend time cherishing and taking care of the friendships you already have

s/o to my friends because idk what life would be like without you all.

14. Another year with coffee

I don’t know what else to say but THANK YOU GOD because this is what gets me through college (am I right?)

15. Another to set goals and obtain them

If you weren’t good with resolutions in the past, make 2017 the year you set PRACTICAL resolutions; one’s that you want to keep and you will enjoy keeping.

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
