15 Reasons To Love The Christmas Season
Mallory Davis

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! December is my all time favorite month, end of statement. Here are just a few things that make the month of Christmas so special.

1. We get to celebrate Jesus’ birth

Make sure to always remember the reason for the season!

2. Candy Canes

It is the only time of the year that Candy canes are acceptable. Honestly, we should riot that candy canes be allowed all year long.

3. The 25 days of Christmas on FreeForm

They can change the name of the channel as long as they don't take my count down to Christmas away.

4. Outdoor Christmas lights

The joy of driving around and looking at Christmas lights is incomparable.

5. Christmas Caroling

"The best way to spread Christmas is singing loudly for all to hear." -Elf-

6. Christmas spirit fills the air

Folks tend to be more caring during the Christmas season. I guess they are trying to get back on the nice list.

7. Antioch’s Bethlehem revisited

This is a must for anyone in the Conway area. Antioch recreates the city of Bethlehem and allows you to take a step into the night our savior was born in.

8. Hallmark.

End of statement Hallmark is the truly the heart of TV. Every night in December I watch at least 2 sappy movies, that get me all in my feels.

9. Christmas music!

Here. There. Everywhere! I love that I am able to listen to non-stop holiday music for a whole month!

10. Nothing can top a good ole cup of Hot Cocoa with marshmallows

11. Santa Clause

Need I say more, no matter how old you get, you never get too old for Santa!

12.PRESENTS

Cheesy I know but I do enjoy buying everyone gifts and even receiving a few too!

13. The Nutcracker ballet.

This is one of my all times favorites! As a kid I dreamed of being Clara and having my nutcracker turn into a prince. It hasn't happen yet but i refuse to give up.

14. Family traditions.

I am a sucker for old timey traditions, they are what makes each of our families unique.

15. The jingling Salvation Army

It makes my heart so happy to hear those bells as I wonder down the shopping center.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
