Here are the top 15 reasons why being an education major is the best decision I've ever made, and I'm sure you'll agree!
1. Being able to make kids laugh by acting silly. Within reason, of course.
2. The attention. I know that sounds vain. I had a lot of fun during musicals in high school, so being able to incorporate my theatrical side can liven up a lesson.
3. Having some great stories about a funny or crazy thing a kid did. I would leave out the kid’s name. For instance, one time a kid I was in charge of took a dump into a trashcan. How interesting is that?
4. Collaborating with other educators to figure out the most effective strategy in helping your students.
5. Having the ability to be creative and innovative in my lessons.
6. I can decorate my own classroom!
7. Connecting with children and families from a variety of backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures.
8. Seeing the “aha” moment when a student finally understands a concept.
9. Teaching betters my public speaking skills and helps me gain confidence.
10. Noticing when a lesson is going really well and seeing your students engaged.
11, Noticing when a lesson is not going well and being able to effectively think on your feet.
12. Creating a welcoming and positive environment in my classroom.
13. Having the opportunity to learn from my students.
14. Did I mention getting to decorate my own classroom?
15. And finally, inspiring students to become the best that they can be.
These are just some of the reasons why I love education. I am so excited to finally graduate and have my very own classroom! I am eager and ready to fight for my students. To spark their interests, motivate their involvement with learning, and act as a strong role model. If anyone asks you why you are an education major, send them this link!
