Though the gym may only lead to uncomfortable thoughts of pain, in reality it is totally worth it to focus on a strict gym schedule. You should always make time to get in the gym, even if it's only for a little bit. To back me up, here are some reasons why:
1. A fit body is a healthy body.
I know you have been putting off the five to ten pounds that you are planning to lose at some point in time, why not just go to the gym consistently and be happy with yourself. You only get one body, so try to make it last as long as possible.
2. It helps you gain confidence.
If you get to a spot where you are happy, then you will feel much more confident. You will not have to worry about your appearance or how you will look around a group of people. It will help you be the happiest you that you can be.
3. No pain, no gain.
Honestly, soreness sucks, but the feeling of accomplishment will make it worth it. It is hard to walk the next day, or to breathe, but the longer you do it, the more natural it will become.
4. Gives you an excuse to eat healthy.
This doesn't mean you have to do it all the time, but why waste all that hard work on dessert after each meal. It's frustrating to see how hard it is to burn off calories and how easy it is to consume them.
5. Gives you the opportunity to meet new people.
Chances are, if you meet someone at the gym, they are living a pretty healthy life style, and it helps to be able to have better influences around you.
6. Do it now, or regret it later.
College is hard and there is a lot going on, but it will be even harder if you start later rather than now. Make it a routine while you are young, and stick with it as you age. At least this is what older people have told me.
7. It makes walks to class easier.
Being out of breath sucks, especially when it is just to walk to class. Thankfully, the gym will help build your stamina and your endurance.
8. When you do cheat, it will be okay.
Sometimes you just need a little sweet in your life, and that is okay too! Consistent routines at the gym will make those cheating days a little less regretful.
9. Just to say that you do.
This way when someone asks, “Do you even lift?” You can be like, “Actually, yeah I do. Four times a week.”
10. Gives you a chance to get experience.
The first time you walk into a gym is awkward. You don’t really know what you want to do or what you like to do, let alone know how the machines work. Better to get that over with now than to do it when your old.
11. Gives you a break from studying.
Sitting and reading or writing all day is a lot mentally, sometimes it is good to take a break and go stretch or move a little bit. Keeping your body moving will help you stay up to pull that all-nighter.
12. OR gives you somewhere else to study.
A change in environment is sometimes appreciated, bring your books with you if it helps.
13. An excuse to wear gym clothes all day.
You go be comfortable all day and rock it.
14. Gives you some alone time.
There are a lot of kids on campus (some schools more than others), and rooms are also shared. Use the gym as an excuse to be alone and just think about things.
15. Again, to stay healthy.
Being healthy is super important and I know the gym really isn’t that much fun, but it really is worth it. So go give it a chance!
