15 Reasons Why Dogs Make Great Best Friends
Taken by Michaela Hoeger

It's not secret that dogs are a person's best friend. There's never a dull moment when you're around them, and they always seem to have a way of brightening your day. If you have a dog, they are more than likely your best friend. Not sure? Here are 15 ways to show how your dog makes a great best friend.

1. They have horrible short - term memory.

They won't hold a grudge if you accidentally hit them in the nose or something like that. Five seconds later, they will still be loving you as if nothing happened.

2. They have amazing long - term memory.

Whether you've been gone for two weeks or two years, they will remember you as soon as you step in the room, and they will always be happy to see you.

3. They can mimic your emotions.

If you're happy, they're happy; if you're sad, they're sad. Enough said.

4. They are your very own portable dishwasher.

You don't have to worry about if you drop (most) food on the floor because your dog will be right to help you clean up the mess! They also specialize in cleaning off plates once you're finished eating!

5. They can be a great support and motivational tool.

Dogs can always tell if there is something wrong, and they will do whatever they can to cheer you up. They may lay with you, try to get you to focus on them by giving belly rubs, or want to play with you. They hate to see you upset.

6. They never make you eat alone.

They will be right by your side starring at you while you're eating to make sure you aren't alone (and to try to get some of your food). They want to be included in the family dinner too.

7. They will never leave you hanging.

Even if everyone else cancels on you, you dog will be by your side no matter what. They love being with you.

8. They are definitely a comic relief.

Look up "Funny Dog Videos" on Youtube. Enough said.

9. They will always be your bathroom company.

Whether they join you in the room, or they just guard the bathroom door, you will never be alone while you're doing your 'business'.

10. They have no idea what this thing called "time" is.

It doesn't matter if it's been five minutes or five hours, they are always going to be excited to see you (unless they're like my dog and try to be mad after you've been gone for a long length of time). You can almost always look forward lots of tail-wagging and kisses!

11. They can be read with just a look.

You can tell what kind of mood they are in just by looking at them. They could be happy, excited, sad, tired, anything; you would still know, and try to act accordingly.

12. They respect your sleep.

They know when it's time for bed. They may even sleep with you, but they also know that you need to sleep and (most) will try not to bother you.

13. They keep you warm.

Hello? Have you ever had a dog fall asleep on your lap?

14. They protect you.

They love you and care about you. If someone comes along that they don't trust, you'll know it. They look out for their owners, but let you know when they approve of someone to be around as well.

15. They are basically your child.

You think about them all the time, and can't wait to see them when you come home. You feed them, bath them, and take them out to go to the bathroom. You take care of them when their sick, and you try to make them feel better if they're sad. If they're happy, you're happy. They're basically your child.

Now go play fetch or something!

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.
