It’s always been my belief that everybody has a spirit.

By “spirit,” I mean something that’s inside a person that make them, well, them. Something beyond their thoughts or their actions or their beliefs. A certain sparkle that is unique to them. Something that, once you see it, it’s impossible to ignore.

I’ve also always believed that nothing is stronger than the human spirit. Your spirit tells you to wake up each morning and try again. Your spirit tells you that you are a unique person with a lot to offer the world. Your spirit tells you that you have the power to do anything.

Your spirit can tell you a lot. If you decide to listen.

Here’s a list of 15 of my favorite quotes to remind you of that inner power and potential your spirit has.

1. “You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore.”

2. “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”

3. “I’m working on myself, for myself, by myself.”

4. “Stop wishing. Start doing.”

5. “Throw me to the wolves and I will return leading the pack.”

6. “Let her sleep for when she wakes, she will move mountains.”

7. “Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.”

8. “When you want to succeed as bad as you want to breathe, then you will be successful.”

9. “I believe in the person I want to become.”

10. “Don’t let small minds convince you that your dreams are too big.”

11. “Be so good they can’t ignore you.”

12. “In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.”

13. “I am better than I was. I’ll be better than I am.”

14. “She believed she could, so she did.”

15. “I survived because the fire inside me burned brighter than the fire around me.”

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
