So lately I have been seeing all these links and recipes for poke cakes everywhere; I had never seen them before, but they looked like an amazing idea. Just like their name suggests, they are cakes that you poke holes in after baking and then fill with some type of liquid or filling (pudding, pureed fruit, etc.). The cakes are not hard to make and are super tasty because of the extra flavor from the filling in the holes! Here are 15 poke cake recipes that you must try:

1. Oreo Pudding Poke Cake

I absolutely love Oreos, so I decided to make this Oreo Pudding Poke Cake recipe and it turned out to be delicious! It was not hard to make and did not require that many more ingredients than a normal cake. You make it the same as a normal cake, and when it is finished cooking you just poke the holes and fill them in with the pudding. This recipe was also great because you only need to put the cake in the fridge for about an hour, and other recipes require a longer time, like 7 or 8 hours. I would definitely make this recipe again and recommend it to anyone looking for an easy dessert to make that is non-traditional.

Ingredients:

  • (18 ounce) box chocolate cake mix
  • 2(4 ounce) packages of instant Oreo pudding
  • 4 cups milk (2% or higher)
  • crushed Oreo cookies

Directions:

  1. Make cake mix according to directions and bake in a well-greased 9×13 pan.
  2. Just before cake is done, start making pudding. In a medium bowl, add milk to pudding mixture and continue to whisk until most of the lumps are removed.
  3. Let pudding mixture sit for about 2 minutes.
  4. You want it to thicken slightly so it isn’t overly runny but not fully thickened into pudding.
  5. When cake is finished, while still warm, poke holes all over cake (about 1-inch) intervals using a wooden spoon handle or a straw.
  6. Pour pudding mixture over warm cake.
  7. Allow the cake to cool for several minutes on the counter then put into the fridge to set up. About an hour.
  8. Once it is set, top with crushed Oreo cookies.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
