15 Podcasts You Should Already Be Listening To

In This Article:

No matter the subject you're interested in or even wanting to hear about there's so many podcasts available it's hard to choose just one. Hopefully this list of 15 fantastic podcasts makes your choice a bit better because chances are you're already missing out on their weekly episodes if you haven't heard any of these.

Modern Love

https://www.npr.org/podcasts/469516571/modern-love

A podcast which tells "stories of love, loss and redemption". One that not only has these essays read by famous movie and tv personalities, but interviews these authors and gets the backstory. Each story is so unique it's difficult to compare them. As heart-breaking and personal as some of these stories are, it creates a deeper level of humanity and warms the heart.

Stuff You Should Know

https://wsum.org/2018/11/20/stuff-you-should-know-podcast-review-2/

Ok so I'll admit I haven't listened to this one all that much, but from what I can tell you: this podcast is worth it. The one episode I remember the best: 10ish Cases of Really Bad Luck is entertaining and cringe-worthy all at once. Stuff You Should Know tells its listeners stories of well... stuff they should know. Do you really need to know this information?? That's a whole separate thing.

Believed

https://www.npr.org/podcasts/510326/believed

Being a student at MSU while everything that had happened with Nassar was now catching up to him and everyone involved was a bit scary. Especially as a journalism student I had no clue how to look at an issue that had shoved itself in my face and everyone immediately had an argument about the issue or someone involved. As heart-breaking as everything in this podcast is to listen to, it also opened up the entire issue for me and provided what exactly had happened (other than the obvious). There were stories of how Nassar got away with what he did and for so long.

And the Writer Is...

http://www.andthewriteris.com/

A music podcast about what songwriters write about and their inspirations. It's intriguing to listen to an artist talk about their own music and where not only their inspiration comes from but their perception of their own career. The Jon Bellion episode was so interesting to listen to because Bellion, himself, reveals a lot about how he feels about the music industry and even why his music is so unique.

Stupid Genius

https://shows.cadence13.com/podcast/stupid-genius

If anything this podcast is just plain entertaining, but also answers questions that no one knows the answer to. Emma Chamberlain, a popular Youtuber, rambles on and on about different questions that no one really knows the answer to (why people yawn is an entertaining episode). She has three guesses to get the answer correct and as she says, "pull it out of her ass". Chamberlain not only talks about the subject at hand, but also just rambles about her life and different instances she's run into.

Reply All

https://gimletmedia.com/shows/reply-all

This seemingly random original podcast tells weird stories about the internet and parts of it. One of the first episodes I listened to was about the guy who created pop-up ads (I had no clue an actual person had created those). Each episode tells a story about part of modern life.

Stuff You Missed in History Class

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/stuff-you-missed-in-history-class/id283605519

Listen to topics you didn't know you wanted to know about! The hosts of this show talk about anything from donuts to Godzilla to Mary Queen of Scots and more. Listen to this entertaining podcast and check out topics you missed in history class.

Your Favorite Band Sucks

https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/mark-mosley-tyler-mahan-coe/your-favorite-band-sucks

"Where no band is spared"- literally. Mark and Tyler (the hosts of this podcast) continuously just hate on various bands from the Beatles to Queen to Weezer and even Blink-182. Granted the podcast seems to mostly cover rock-type bands. Saying that these hosts are a bit harsh is putting it lightly... If there's an episode about a band chances are they really really hate it.

And That's Why We Drink

https://audioboom.com/channel/andthatswhywedrink

Although I haven't listened to this one, it's definitely on my list of podcasts to listen to. I've heard about it from so many people and it even has had a few live shows. This podcast about paranormal, crime and everything scary is sure to give you goosebumps and terrify you to the bone.

How to Do Everything

https://www.askmen.com/entertainment/better_look/podcasts-for-men/collect-life-hacks-for-fun.html

It's as if someone put instructions about life into a podcast. From finding a date to finding water in the desert this podcast covers just about well... everything. As they say even in the description "no question is too big or too small".

She Podcast

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/she-podcast/id1439101884

A self-empowering podcast from Jordan Lee Dooley talks about how to reach your potential without the pressure to prove. The podcast says it's "like sitting down to talk with a friend" and listening to Jordan talk is not only full of advice, but calming in a sense.

Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/armchair-expert-with-dax-shepard/id1345682353

You've literally been living under a rock if you don't know who Dax Shepard is. From all of the movies and tv shows he's in to his amazing marriage to Kristen Bell, you've likely heard of him in some way. Shepard interviews various other celebrities about what it's like to be a human while talking... a lot.

Girls Gotta Eat

https://www.comedyworks.com/comedians/girlsgotta-eat

This hilarious podcast is from Rayna Greenberg and Ashley Hesseltine talks all about dating and guys and everything in between. They share their own experiences through this podcast and offer what not to do. This podcast is how I heard about @brosbeingbasic on Insta (it's entertaining to scroll through).

The Trypod

https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/cadence13/the-trypod

The infamous Try Guys from Buzzfeed have branched out onto their own and discuss just about anything in this hilarious podcast. Keith, Eugene, Zach and Ned talk about their careers as well as their personal lives. I started listening to this podcast while working for my internship and could barely keep my laughter to myself (I had to cover my mouth to stop laughing).

This Might Get Weird

https://thismightgetweird.libsyn.com/

Nonsense, common sense and even jokes at Grace and Mamrie's expenses. They try to provide their listeners with "30 minutes of the day you might not hate" but this entertaining podcast is sure to put a smile on your face and make your day just that much better.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
