15 Perks Of Having Your Best Friend As A Roommate

There's nothing better than realizing that your best friend lives less than 10 feet away from you. Whether it be gossiping, having a wine night, or simply getting ready to go out, there is never a boring moment when your roommate is your best friend. But those fun nights are really only the start of it. Here are 15 perks of having your best friend as a roommate.

1. Every night is like a sleepover.

Those countless hours spent laughing and gossiping at sleepovers growing up is a reality every night when you live with your best friend.

2. You genuinely look forward to coming back to the room.

There is nothing worse than dreading going back to what is supposed to be your getaway space because of an awkward roommate, or uncomfortable living situation, but when you live with your best friend, not only do you have a comfortable living situation, but you also get to go back to your best friend, so it's really a win/win.

3. They are not afraid to call you out on your crap.

Nothing gets past your best friend, and when something isn't right they are the first person to let you know. If you are looking a little ratchet after a night out, they won't be afraid to let you know to go take a shower.

4. You can be as weird as your want, no judgments made.

Living with your best friend means letting your freak flag fly. No need to be afraid of those weird habits, or sleeping in (or without) underwear because your best friend will love you no matter what, even if that means walking around in a bra singing Demi Lovato songs.

5. There's always someone there to cheer you up.

College isn't easy, but having your best friend by your side definitely helps make it a little easier. So whether it be a bad break up, or a horrible test grade, you know you can always count on your roommate to be there when you get back holding tissues, Grey's Anatomy, and some chocolate.

6. There's always someone to walk you back after a long night.

On those nights when things get a little out of hand, and you may not exactly know how to get back to your room, it's nice to know that your best friend knows exactly where you live. And it's always a plus having someone to get you into bed.

7. You always have someone to go out with.

No need to text around to see who's going out because you can not only get ready with your best friend, but you can also go out with them.

8. Or stay in with.

On those nights where you just can't seem to get out of your sweats, you can always count on best friend to stay in and have a wine or movie night with you.

9. After a night out, they're the first person you see -- well, most of the times.

Because we've all had those mornings, when everything is slightly a blur, and there's nothing better than going through pictures, Snapchats, and texts with your best friend, who is also conveniently in the same room as you. And for those of you who may not actually wake up in your rooms, there's always the relief of knowing that walk of shame will only take you back to your best friend.

10. What's hers is yours.

Whether that means clothes, groceries, shoes, pens, or whatever else you need, you never have to worry about not having something because, odds are, your roommate probably does.

11. A fight isn't really a fight.

It can be awkward living with someone you don't know, because when a fight breaks out it usually leads to awkwardness and tension. However, a fight with your best friend never actually lasts more than 15 minutes.

12. There are no awkward talks.

It's always uncomfortable when you live with someone you don't know, so when you have an issue about something in the room it can lead to some pretty awkward conversations. But no need to worry, because living with your best friends means you can be honest and straightforward. So, if you don't actually like the room to feel like an arctic tundra, you can just change the temperature, and hope she doesn't notice.

13. You can coordinate on how to decorate the room.

Matching pillows, color coordinated comforters -- whatever you want -- you got it when living with your best friend.

14. You have your own cheerleader.

Oh I think that I found myself a cheerleader/She is always right there when I need her… I couldn't have said it better, because having your best friend as your roommate means that you actually always have someone there for you, no matter what. Not to mention that when it comes to actual sporting events, dance shows, choir events, or whatever it may be that you're into, you can always count on your roommate to be there as your cheerleader.

15. You make the best memories.

Living with your best friend is bound to lead to some pretty crazy experiences, and there's nothing better than being able to look back and realize that none of those memories would have been possible if you didn't live with your best friend.

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
