Is it just me or have these past few months flown by? But November means Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving mean the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade happens every Thanksgiving morning AT 9 a.m. It's tradition to watch the giant balloons, floats, clowns, celebrities, cheerleaders, and bands travel down the streets of NYC. This parade has been putting smiles on faces and bringing people joy for 90 years now! Here are some of the best parts of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!
1. Cinnamon Rolls
You wake up at exactly 8:55 a.m., no earlier because you're finally on vacation and can instantly smell coffee and cinnamon rolls. There's nothing better.
2. Cutting of the Ribbon
Every year they cut the ribbon to start off the parade and you can't miss it! In 2013 the first robot cut the ribbon to start the parade, so cool!
3. Al Roker
Al Roker knows where he's going to be every Thanksgiving and he loves it. He has been presenting the parade since 1995 for NBC. This is the best way to watch the parade, besides being in NYC of course. He makes the parade so much fun to watch because of how much he loves it.
4. The Rockettes
Every little girl dreams about being a Rockette after watching them during the parade. I'm almost 22 and still get that little girl excitement knowing they are coming up next. And the anticipation for the kick line where they are exactly in sync is so exciting!
5. Elf Balloons
No description needed. Just look how cute they are!
6. Thomas the Train
The older you get the more you realize how important Thomas the Train is. Thomas is a stable for hard work and optimism.
7. Sesame Street Float
Even though I was so scared of Big Bird as a child (What kid wasn't? A giant bird. Really?), this is one of the best parts of the parade. It's a trip down memory lane seeing all your old favorite characters singing and dancing. The humans that were on the show when I was so young are still on the float every year!8. The singers on the floats
They have a famous singer on most of the floats to perform music. From Hillary Duff to KISS it doesn't matter who it is, the lip singing is always so terrible but you physically cannot stop watching.
9. Musical numbers
They always have sneak speaks of the upcoming Broadway shows and they're so fun to watch! Dancing + Singing = Happiness
10. Cheerleaders and Marching Bands
You almost always know at least one person who gets to be in the parade and they are most likely a cheerleader or band member.11. Cirque du Soleil
This float is always so cool. People are jumping and doing flips on trampolines and doing acrobatics on a MOVING float.
12. Turkey Float
13. Santa's Sleigh
You wait to see Santa and Mrs. Claus the entire parade and its the best when you finally see Santa's sleigh round the corner. Santa is always so theatrical too laughing and waving, must have been a long trip from the North Pole. This is the sure sign that it's finally okay to start listening to Christmas music.14. National Dog Show
Every year after the parade the coverage of the National Dog Show begins. I'll never understand how the judging works because somehow the ugliest dog always wins. You just get so engulfed the moment it starts.
15. Being with your family.
Thanksgiving is all about being with your family. This parade is a time when you can all sit together and just be thankful.
