Up until two months ago, I always had this plan: I would meet someone in college (preferably someone nice), we would date for a period of time (longer than two years, less than seven), get married, and then have two children. I, personally, thought this plan was a very good one. This was until I started watching "Gilmore Girls." If you smiled automatically just now, I like you already. The wildly successful early 2000's hit TV series centers around a hilarious, food-obsessed, quick witted mother daughter duo living with interesting neighbors in a small Connecticut town called Stars Hallow. The show has completely changed my outlook on my plan. I no longer feel the pressure to live with a husband in a busy city; Instead, I want to be Lorelai Gilmore. I want to own my own inn and live in a nice house and become a regular at a diner and love coffee as much as Lorelai does. Why is this? Well, because she is incredible and funny and exactly the type of woman — and mom — I want to be some day. To celebrate my newest Netflix addiction, and my absolute favorite TV mom, here are some of Lorelai Gilmore's most relatable moments:
1. Actually being honest about love:
2. When someone tries to tell you something exciting way too early in the morning:
3. Looking forward to doing something with someone and then they cancel:
4. When someone gives you "constructive" criticism:
5. Every Sunday night, laying in bed:
6. After Christmas is over, but it's still cold and snowy:
7. When you're listening to your best friend rant about a person you've always hated:
8. When you have dinner guests over for the first time:
9. Knowing you should always look on the bright side:
10. Every time you're in an awkward situation and need to make small talk:
11.Having the perfect Sunday plans:
12. Knowing the importance of time management and chocolate during any shopping excursion:
13. Listening to your friend complain about her boyfriend while knowing full well that she really does love him so you settle with:
14. Telling a story and realizing that no one is listening and then realizing that's what happens to you at every family gathering:
15. Trying to explain yourself after attempted (and failed) flirting:
"Gilmore Girls" is the always interesting, real, and hilariously funny coming-of-age story about a single mom doing her best raising her brilliant daughter in the most adorable little town. It's witty and sarcastic and sometimes rude, but is always entertaining — and Lorelai Gilmore never disappoints. For anyone who hasn't watched "Gilmore Girls," I highly recommend it (if you didn't get that hint already).
