Most of us have jobs and are busy living our lives, but sometimes life can get boring, and it is always important to try new things. I have 15 new things for you to do this summer that will keep your life exciting and fresh when you get into your summertime sadness.

Go Backpacking

Backpacking is a great way to engage in nature and take a moment to relax. Listen to the birds and the trees. Buy a portable hammock to take along with you. You can easily set up anywhere and read a book or work on a small project.

Start A Journal or Diary

It’s good to get all of your thoughts out, because sometimes keeping all of your thoughts and ideas in your head can be overwhelming. Having things in writing is like your own little vent sesh, and you can be as personal as you want.

Bake and Cook New Recipes

There are so many cuisines from different nations that can be made in just a few hours with little money. You can make something for your family for a sit down meal or you can whip up something new just to snack on. It’s good to feed your taste buds new flavors!

Listen To A New Genre Of Music

Opening your horizons to new types of music can give you better insight on life. If you listen to Rap and Hip-Hop all the time, try listening to Soul or RnB to really learn where Rap and Hip-Hop originated. If you want to be crazy, switch it up entirely and listen to Country. You get a different outlook on lyrics and the meanings within them.

Create A Vegetable Garden

Not all veggies are delicious, but they really are 10 times more delicious when they are homegrown in your own soil in your own backyard. Being able to eat natural veggies that you grew is an accomplishment and should be enjoyed.

Go To A Concert To Support Local Bands

Whether you like the performers or not, supporting local talent is important. There are many venues that usually have monthly or even weekly events that feature local talent. And maybe, once you give them a chance, you will realize that their music is actually very interesting and worth listening to.

Go To A Museum

There are many, many museums worth going to, whether it is an art museum, a natural history museum, a science museum, or even something as cool as a technology museum. Going to any one of these can teach you something you didn’t know before or spark your imagination. It’s a great place to feed your mind interesting knowledge.

Volunteer At A Local Organization

Whether you are giving back to a local organization or a national organization, giving back to people less fortunate than you is one of the most rewarding actions one can make in their lifetime. You could volunteer at a local hospital or even do something on a larger scale like Habitat For Humanity. Of course, you are not getting paid for your work, but you will be getting paid in ‘thank yous’ from all of the grateful people you are helping.

Go Biking On Trails

Most National Parks across the nation have biking and walking trails for civilians. Taking a relaxing bike ride can help you get back into exercise with a scenic view, and if you want to do something a little more challenging, break out the mountain bike! Going off trail can be extremely fun, but can also be a bit dangerous, so have fun, but know your limits.

Visit A Local Farmer’s Market

It is always great to help local businesses, especially the farmers in your area. Without farmers, we would not have the produce, meats, honey, or natural products that we rely on every day.

Make Photo Albums

I bet you have hundreds of old photos sitting in a closet or underneath your bed that haven’t been looked at for years, so put them in a photo album or make a few scrapbooks! They are fun and easy to make, and they give you time to reminisce on good times in your life.

Try Yoga or Pilates

Yoga and Pilates are great ways to stay in shape while giving your body a moment for meditation to relax and find inner peace. There are many places that offer Yoga and Pilates classes, but both can be done at home with professional DVDs or just videos you find on the internet.

Have An Outdoor Movie Night

Imagine sitting on a blanket on your back porch with a projector projecting your favorite movie onto the surface of a white sheet. How nice does that sound? Pretty nice, if you ask me, and it’s a great way to bring family and friends together. Movie projectors do not cost much, and they can be used almost anywhere, so why not take advantage of the beautiful summer nights and watch some flicks outside?

Take A Megabus To A New City

The Megabus is a cheap and easy way to explore new cities without the worries of driving your own car. It is relatively cheap as well, so you can save more money for hotels, food, and new buys in the city you are visiting.

Go Camping

This may sound cliché, but camping is a great summer activity some people have never done before. Go to a local campground and set up a tent, build a fire, make some s'mores, and explore your surroundings. Getting in touch with nature. Living outside for a few days is a lot more fun than it sounds!

There are endless things you can try this summer to beat boredom. Another great thing you could do is apply to be a writer for our organization, Odyssey. Odyssey is always looking for fresh, new writers and, it is a great way to get your opinions and ideas published for the world to see. Do one of these new things a week and that will cover the rest of your summer to keep you free of boredom. Have fun!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
