Aside from the series finale, How I Met Your Mother was one of the best TV shows that people of all ages love. It was nine years of laughter, tears and joy where you fell in love with the characters and never wanted the long tale--of how Ted Mosby finally met his wife, the mother of his two children--to end.

I recently rewatched the entire series (sucky finale included) for about the tenth time and wrote down my favorite life lessons I learned from one of my beloved TV series.

1. Sometimes hurt happens for a reason.

It's going to happen. It's inevitable.

2. You don't always have to wait for things to be legendary.

And it's only legendary if your friends are there to witness it.

3. Nothing good ever happens after 2 AM, but there can be exceptions.

But it's always a good idea to go home and sleep.

4. Just because you're an adult, it doesn't mean your life has to be boring.

Think about all 208 episodes. Not a single one was boring. You can still play laser tag.

5. You're never too cool for Halloween.

But avoid those lame puns and costumes.

6. Sometimes the universe has to take over.

Everything will work itself out in the end.

7. Relationships are hard, but if it's the right person then it's easy.

You will find your own Lilypad or Marshmallow one day.

8. Eventually you become your own doppleganger. That's okay.

You are ever changing in life.

9. Some things just can't be explained.

Like the pineapple, we never did figure that one out. On a serious note though, everything doesn't need an explanation.

10. The "Have you ever used it in a year?" Test.

Don't apply this to friends. You're all caught up in your own lives. But that bean bag chair? Definitely toss it.

11. Don't let the future you decide, let the present you decide.

Or else there could be dire consequences.

12. Never invite an ex to your wedding.

There is a time and a place, and your wedding just isn't it.

13. It is definitely bad luck to see the bride in her wedding dress.

It's an old superstition, but don't even risk it.

14. Sometimes when you know something is a mistake, you've got to make it anyway.

The only way you'll know it's a mistake is if you make it. If you don't, you'll always wonder. But Robin, those highlights were definitely a mistake.

15. Life has plenty of good moments.

So make sure you're paying close attention.

Toilet Troubles

"So, usually I would never go on a Tinder date but when you are out with girlfriends and a hot Bosnian guy says he wants to hang with you and his friends, you oblige. We head to their apartment and when I realized I may pee my pants if I don't find a bathroom soon. I ask for the bathroom and a friend of my tinder date shows me to it and said in all seriousness that I was not allowed to flush the toilet under ANY circumstances. Having a few drinks--or five--I relieved myself to, nevertheless, flush the toilet. Within seconds, his bathroom was flooded and towels were laid out everywhere to catch the toilet water. To say the least, we were not invited back"
