Whether you are a music junkie or someone who enjoys listening to music in their past time, lyrics can do wonders for the mind. It can motivate, relax and inspire us, as well as get us to a place of euphoria that not much else can. Whether you listen to rap, rock, EDM, metal, classical rock, inspirational or reggae, each genre has lyrics in their songs that can hit everybody in some way, shape or form. One band that I have noticed to have some unbelievably powerful lyrics is Motionless In White. This metal band from Scranton, Pennsylvania alludes a dark, satanic side to music that may deem controversial to some. But when listening with an open mind, many of their lyrics portray positive messages that are the opposite of satanic.
1. "Maybe if your mind was as open as your mouth, you’d understand that regardless of what anyone wears, looks like or sings about...we’re all the same kids fighting for what we believe in and you can never take that away"
Instead of judging the band based upon their looks, listeners should look at them in a way they would any other human.
2. "Open your mind before your mouth"
Something everybody should partake in doing.
3. "We all have our scars"
As individuals that go through many trials and tribulations, scars are what make us unique. Don't let anyone take that away from you.
4. "All I want is to reach someone, to say something that could change their life forever. To let them know they’re not alone. You’re not alone"
This lyric alone negates the belief that all of Motionless In White's music is demonic and aggressive.
5. "People fear what they don’t understand"
This is a pretty deep lyric. Fear consumes all of us whether we create that feeling ourselves or not and the unknown is a major trigger contributing to fear.
6. "If you mean it, you’ll make it"
The song "570" by Motionless In White can be seen as an uplifting song providing listeners with encouragement, especially with this lyric above. If you truly care about getting somewhere you WILL make it.
7. "To all the kids who’s letters I receive, the broken hearted, the damaged just like me, I will be your voice to let the world know we stand as one"
One of the most respectful lyrics I have ever heard.
8. "If in fact you were on the brink of any self-harming action, it was you who pulled yourself from the ledge. You saved your life. You are the hero".
Nobody was standing there telling you to stop. YOU pulled yourself out of that dark place. No one else did. Even though this is not necessarily a lyric in one of the bands songs, it did come from a post made by lead singer Chris Cerulli (Motionless) spreading awareness to stop self harm.
9. "I don’t have anything against people. I don’t worship Satan. I don’t worship God. I just don’t care. I stand up for everyone who believes in whatever they want. Their looks, their religion, their sexuality. Whatever you want we support."
One of the best parts of this band is the support they have for everyone despite their own personal beliefs.
10. "Everything went black before I even closed my eyes"
Pretty deep!
11. "I am lost without you here"
Everyone deserves to have someone they care for in such a way that creates this sensation.
12. "Everyday I must practice to fake this smile on my face"
From the song "Creature" this lyric shows a softer, more subtle side to their music. Don't let the lyrics fool you though, the music is still pretty hard core!
13. "Hope that everything you see reminds you of us"
This song "Sinematic" can be relatable to anyone who has suffered a break up.
14. "I will justify this pain I will live another day I will fight to earn my place I will be unstoppable"
How uplifting! Do not let anyone stop you from fighting on and living each day to the fullest.
15. "We may be broken, but you can't kill all of us"
We may go through different rough patches in life, but they can never fully defeat us.
