As the semester draws to a close, it is so easy to get wrapped up in finals and projects and the yearning to go home. But we still have a couple more weeks to get through, so we need to find some sort of motivation to keep us going. So I'm going to share with you a few inspirational Pinterest quotes to hopefully get you through the last bit of this semester.

1. "Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground."

In other words, keep looking up at your dreams and aspirations but make sure you stay grounded. Don't let stress or other influencers ruin your semester.

2. "You did not wake up today to be mediocre."

A daily reminder for yourself in the morning is always a great way to keep yourself going, especially if it's as true as this one. Why would you want to be mediocre?

3. "It always seems impossible until it's done."

Nelson Mandela was really on to something here with this one. Never say something is impossible because it would be an untruth to say so.

4. "Be thankful for what you are now, and keep fighting for what you want to be tomorrow."

Right now, you may be writing a B paper, but tomorrow you can fight to make it an A! Never keep reaching for what you want and/or who you want to be.

5. "It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop."

6. "If you can't figure out your purpose, find out your passion. For you passion will lead you right into your purpose."

7. "Let your smile change the world, but don't let the world change your smile."

Especially around finals, sometimes it can be hard to remember to smile. But don't let the semester get you down - put a smile on your face and let it light up the world!

8. "Don't forget that you're human. It's okay to have a melt down. Just don't unpack and live there. Cry it out and then refocus on where you are headed."

This is great to remember. If everything just gets to be too much for you, go ahead and have a mini mental breakdown. It'll be better if you let it all out because then you'll be capable of moving on.

9. "It doesn't matter what others are doing. It matters what YOU are doing."

10. "It's never too late to start over. If you weren't happy with yesterday, try something different today. Don't stay stuck, do better."

The end of the semester can be really tough, and it won't always work out the way you want it to, but don't let one bad day stop you from making the next day really wonderful.

11. "Those who dare to fail miserably can achieve greatly."

You know, if you try so hard and it ends up being the biggest fail to have ever failed, that's okay because you can turn that into an even bigger accomplishment. Besides, John F. Kennedy knew what he was talking about, so you better listen.

12. "Sometimes the best thing you can do is not think, not wonder, not imagine, not obsess. Just breathe, and have faith that everything will work out for the best."

Just breathe. Some of the best advice anyone can give. Just breathe.

13. "No matter what people tell you words and ideas can change the world."

If you're struggling to find meaning in what you are doing by finals week, just remember this brilliant lesson from Dead Poet's Society. Whatever you are doing, whatever idea you have or words you spill onto paper... they all have significance and can make a difference.

14. "Wake up early. Drink coffee. Work hard. Be ambitious. Keep your priorities straight, your mind right and your head up. Do well, live well, and dress really well. Do what you love, love what you do. It is time to start living."

15. "Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire."

Feeling inspired? I hope so. Just remember that you are here for a reason and that everything will work out as it is supposed to in the end, even if it isn't in the way you imagined it would. Happy Finals!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
