It’s that time of year. The next few weeks will host the "Mountain Weekends" of fraternities all over the country. These weekends are super fun, but there is one stress factor: the infamous cooler. Here are some ideas, so you can get these done and just focus on having fun!
1. Sports
Not to generalize, but most guys like sports, so figure out his favorite football team or basketball team, and go with that for one side.
2. Anything Frat
If you can incorporate anything with “frat” in it, that’s the move. I don’t know if you’ve realized this by now, but frat boys love frats, so that word is key.
3. Patagonia
The mountain theme carries well with this idea since there is already a mountain range in the logo. Add “Mountain Weekend” instead of “Patagonia” and you’re set.
4. TV Shows
Find out there favorite TV shows, and incorporate a quote or picture that incorporates their fraternity letters into the logo or something.
5. Signature Beer Pong Flag
Make the American flag out of red solo cups and ping pong balls. Simple. Clean. Classic.
6. Fraternity Crest
Find a fun way to incorporate the Fraternity Crest (a way to improve upon this idea is to make the background appear as finished wood).
7. School Aspect
Paint or Modge Podge the school logo somewhere.
8. Frat Clothes Logos
This could include Vineyard Vines Whales, Southern Tide Fishes, Southern Proper Black Lab, or any other label you see on frat boys.
9. Tissue Paper
Use tissue paper as a stencil for any word or logo, then use a paint pen to trace it onto the spot you want, then go over the sketch with paint on the actual cooler. Keeps it clean and more precise!
10. Corner Ideas
This aspect is often left to the last moment, and there are several cool ways to tie each side together with a fun design on the corners. Examples include: Designer Sunglasses, bowties, Ping pong balls stacked up on top of a red Solo cup, rope (nautical theme), a stack of beer cans, beer bottles (I would modge podge this), and many others!
11. Your date’s name
A fun way to do this is to find a beer logo and insert his name in, instead of the beer name. Ex: Jack Daniels, Miller Lite, Budweiser etc.
12. The Location
Create a side featuring where mountain weekend took place. This could be a license plate or a map, whatever you feel like doing.
13. Ralph Lauren Polo
This logo featuring phrase “Frat Hard. Frat Often.”
14. Uncle Sam
Pointing and write, “Finish your Beer.”
15. Finally and most importantly, The Fraternity’s Name or Letters
This can be included wherever, but should have a prominent spot on the cooler.
Best of luck being artsy.
