Haley James-Scott is a name familiar to anyone who's watched One Tree Hill. She is one of the only characters who stayed around for all 9 seasons and because of that, we got to watch Haley grow into, in my opinion, the best character on the show. From being tutor girl to being a rock star to being a teacher to being Jamie and Lydia's mom to being Lucas' and Brooke's best friend and everything in between, Haley just about did it all and she did it with grace. If she's the kind of person girls such as myself aim to be, I think that's a good thing, and these quotes prove it.

1. "Love means giving chances when there are no more chances left to give."

2. "The day that you start thinking that love is overrated is the day that you are wrong."

No matter what anyone else says, love is what makes the world go round. Never think that love isn't something that is beautiful and meaningful.

3. "Life is too short to play games. If you love somebody and you want to be with them, then go get them. Deal with the mess later. We don't know what tomorrow will bring."

Haley isn't afraid to admit that love is messy. She does say, though, that due to our numbered days, we should go into in head-first if that's what we want and worry about everything else later.

4. "But ambition is good. Chasing things with integrity is good...dreaming."

Dreaming is good, but if we don't have the ambition and drive to chase those dreams, what's the point?

5. "I have to believe in something right now because, without hope, I wouldn't be able to breathe."

Haley knows the importance of having something to believe in and believing in the beauty of hope.

6. "The only people that tear happy people down are those that are unhappy."

When someone's being mean to you, it's their problem, not yours. Your happiness is what's important.

7. "They haven't invented words for how much I love you."

When you love someone, love them all the way and don't be afraid to show it.

8. "Sometimes people have to cry out all their tears to make room for a heart full of smiles."

While Jamie technically said this, he got it from Haley, which goes to show just how great of a mother she is. It's ok not to be ok sometimes; it's part of the healing process.

9. "I want us to be together."

Go for what you want fearlessly and fully.

10. "We all make different choices, and we need different things. But I think eventually we learn to define happiness for ourselves on our own terms in spite of the pain people have caused us."

Everyone is different and everyone has their own way of finding happiness among the pain.

11. "I just wanted to make sure you were okay."

It's important to care for those we love and make sure that they're doing alright...

12. "I'm the queen!"

But sometimes we have to put ourselves first.

13. "The rest of your life is a long time, and whether you know it or not it's being shaped right now."

Every minute you are becoming more and more of the person you're going to be for the rest of your life...

14. "I'm just Haley. That really should be enough."

And that person you become is exactly who you're supposed to be, and if that's not enough for someone else, then they don't deserve you.

15. "Stand up for what you believe in. The truth matters no matter what."

Sometimes the right thing is the hard thing, but it's worth it.

The next time you're feeling down or need some inspiration in your life, look no further than the wise words of Haley James-Scott.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
