A habit is something we do regularly without consciously thinking much about it. Habits make it possible for us to do things without using too much mental effort. They make everyday life possible, and could even improve your life tremendously depending on what sort of habits you get into. Some habits that are extremely beneficial include:

1. Flossing.

Did you know a startling 80% of adults don't floss? Flossing is important because (as your dentist nags you) because it helps remove plaque from your teeth where a toothbrush cant reach. Plaque that does not get removed eventually cause cavities, which nobody loves, and builds up your dental bill. Start flossing, take care of your teeth

2. Complimenting yourself.

You are great, so remind yourself once in a while. Complimenting yourself is a great habit to get into because it boosts self esteem, builds confidence, and overall makes you happier. If you really want to get into this habit, the best way to do it is to get a mirror and give yourself five compliments. From my experience, the first time is always harder, but you'll come to find out that it gets easier the more you do it. And you'll feel the results pretty fast too.

3. Taking care in your appearance.

You can know a lot about a person from what they wear, so let your clothes show out the best in you. Wear a dress. Wear that collared shirt. Buy that nice flannel you always wanted. Learn how to tie a bowtie. Looking nice leaves a lasting impression on people and will make you feel great!

4. Budgeting.

Not everything in this list is supposed to be fun, but budgeting can go a long way. Keep track of how much you spend eating out, or staying on that magazine prescription, or how much those new shoes cost. If you need to find ways to save money, look at how much you're spending and see if there is anything you can live without, or maybe ways you can save money (i.e. getting groceries, getting store brand stuff, check out clearance racks, etc.)

5. Reading.

Books are always better than the movies, so how about you read some of them. Its enjoyable, its fun, and its the #1 rainy day activity. The more you read, the faster you are at it, the better your vocabulary will be, and the more creative your imagination will be. If you're too lazy for a book, read short stories, poetry or even pieces of flash fiction on Brevity (i.e. a story consisting of less than 1000 words usually).

6. Reading the News.

It is always important to know what's going on in the world. Don't you want to know how certain issues are going, such as the Brexit, the War against ISIS, or maybe how the election is going? Reading the news will not only help you sound like a smartypants while getting updated on what's going on in the world, but it will also help you formulate your own opinions on heated topics.

7. Writing.

Have that amazing idea that you know you're going to forget? Want to write that book you always wanted? Writing is great because it expresses who you are as a person, it makes your thinking visible, and it helps with your communication skills.

8. Learning a new language.

Not everyone speaks English you know. If you ever want to visit another country, you might as well learn the language. Learning languages is not only fun, but builds your own vocabulary, helps build up your IQ, and makes you a better job candidate.

9. Playing an instrument.

Besides being able to jam out anytime you want, learning an instrument is helpful because it improves your memory, enhances your coordination, sharpens your concentration, and helps with confidence. Plus its a blast to be able to play your favorite song by yourself.

10. Stretching.

As we get older, we get less flexible. Facts of life. Better flexibility may improve your performance in physical activities or lowers your risk of injuries by helping your joints move through their full range of motion and enabling your muscles to work most effectively. Its also very meditative to some people.

11. Working out.

Hit up the gym, go for a run, play soccer with the guys, just stay active. Working out is healthy, lets you live longer, improves your perseverance and concentration, and makes you feel amazing

12. Planning.

Don't be that person who constantly forgets important dates and events. It makes you seem unreliable and unprofessional. Keep a planner, write down important dates, organize your desk, plan out your next day, just do whatever is necessary so you're not running around all day in a constant state of stress and anxiety.

13. Learning to cook.

If you're going to be an adult in this world, you're going to have to learn how to cook (and I don't mean Mac and Cheese). Learning to cook is a vital life skill and is a fun activity to do. You can even impress your friends with the wonderful food you make.

14. Getting 8 hours of sleep.

Getting enough sleep is one of the most important things a person can do. Sleep is involved in healing and repair of your heart and blood vessels. Ongoing sleep deficiency is linked to an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke. And besides, who doesn't love sleep?

15. Doing You.

All in all, you do what you want. If you want to do everything on this list, go for it, and if not, who am I to judge. I can't tell you how to live your life, so you live it to your heart's content. It doesn't matter how you live your life, as long as you're enjoying it.
