15 Finals Study Tips From Disney

They're here. It's the week that we have been dreading all semester. It's finals week. We all panic about how we will do on our exams and how much time we will have to study. We are just hoping to come out unharmed and mentally stable. Studying can be a tough thing to conquer, but some of our favorite Disney characters can help with that.

1. Find a quiet place to focus

Whether its the library, a study lounge or your own dorm room, the best place to get your work done is definitely a place with little noise to distract you.

2. Keep a snack handy.

Eating right when studying for your exams is important. If you don't have time for your regular meals, having a snack nearby can work wonders. I don't recommend "hunny" though.

3. Make sure to get your rest.

We are all tempted to pull an "all-nighter" because we think the more studying we do, the better prepared we will be. However, not getting regular sleep can affect your concentration. Also, if you accidentally pass out, there probably won't be a handsome prince to wake you up.

4. Manage your time.

Sadly, we are not in Neverland and hands on the clock continue to turn. Managing your time can help you decide when you will study what and how much time you will spend on each subject.

5. Alternate study techniques.

Changing your study methods can help you figure out what works best for you and allows you to grasp the material the best. Take it from Mulan, if she didn't cut her hair and changed her way of life, she wouldn't have known how strong she really was.

6. Make Flashcards

Flashcards are a great memorization tool and are easy to use. You may even be so happy with them after the exam that you may want to all break out into a choreographed dance routine.

7. Find a study group to work with

Having people in your class that you can easily bounce ideas off of can be super beneficial to your understanding of everything you learned. Plus, you may even be able to help another person if they don't understand something.

8. Try your best not to procrastinate

Merida's reaction is one we all have when we think about studying for finals. I know continuing your Netflix show or checking your Facebook page is tempting but try your best to stay focused.

9. Don’t be afraid to ask professors for help

Being at college I have heard countless times that the "professors are here to help you." Reach out to them for help on things you don't get or for study suggestions. Just don't put balloons on their house, that might not be the best idea.

10. Test yourself on what you’ve studied.

If you don't check what you've learned, you won't know if you fully understand it. Take online tests and quizzes and make a study guide. Take it from Bambi, he struggled with his first steps but after trying them out, he got the hang of it.

11. Make a playlist of your favorite songs.

Studying can ultimately be super boring and stressful without some music playing through your headphones. I mean, look how calm Lilo looks.

12. Remember to take breaks.

Overdoing it won't help you or your grade. It's important to take short breaks, get something to eat, take a nap, or just sit back. This will give your fins a rest.

13. Use all the resources available to you.

College offers so many free tutoring services and books that can help you study. Make use of everything because you don't know when you will actually have to start paying for them.

14. Repeat and rewrite your notes

Repeation has been proven to help you memorize things better. I don't suggest going crazy like Tarzan but rewriting some of the key points can definitely help.

15. RELAX!

You will get through it. It is just one test. Keep a good balance between getting your work done and finding some down time and you will be perfectly fine. Maybe even find a hammock to swing on for a while.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
