We all have "those days" every now and then when it feels like everything you do is far more difficult than it usually is, or nothing goes our way. Everyday issues come up, unfortunate things happen and our plate just seems too full. You know, some days life just gets the best of us. It's important to know how to handle your stress when it happens to you, here are a few ideas you can browse through and see which one works for you!

"Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things." - George Carlin

1. Take a drive and turn up the tunes

Most of you have experienced this relief when driving around with the windows down and your favorite song on the radio. You're able to focus on the road and sing your little heart out. I've always found this helpful when I need a little time out.

2. Take 5 minutes to lay in a quiet room

I know it can be hard to find five minutes for yourself when you're busy at work, but even if you can take a five minute restroom break when you feel stressed it will help tremendously. Now, please do not go lay in the bathroom floor... Just have a seat and enjoy the peace and quiet, focus on your breathing and let it ease your mind.

3. Exercise, exercise, exercise!

This can be as simple as just taking a walk around the neighborhood or local park! If you're feeling extra stressed try running, sweat it out. Believe it or not this helps get rid of a lot of negative energy, and keeps you in shape.

4. Fishing

This seems to be my cure for everything, so I look for any excuse to fish! This increases patience, helps you relax and enjoy the scenery. Getting outdoors and breathing the fresh air is so important, getting back in touch with nature is always good for the soul.

5. Make a checklist

This can be lifetime, monthly or weekly goals, it can be a grocery list, or a "to do" list. Whatever kind of list you decide will help you gain a sense of control, and help you from wondering "what am I forgetting?" while you're juggling eight other things. Stay organized and life will feel much simpler.

6. Carry a calendar

Obviously this will take a lot of stress off of you because it will remember that important dinner date you have with Debra next week, or your anniversary you need to prepare for. Keep it updated and you won't have to stress about what you're suppose to be doing that day.

7. Dance

Dance your little heart out. Pick an upbeat song, and let loose! This will help you relieve stress and negative energy while improving your mood and getting your mind off everything.

8. Talk to someone

Talk to someone you trust, someone that will listen and tell you what you need to hear. Getting everything off of your chest will help more than anything else. And maybe getting advice will help you figure out what you need to do to stop stressing about it.

9. Stress ball

This one has been around for a while now, and it works for some, but not everyone. It's a squishy little ball that you can hold in one hand and squeeze repeatedly until you feel better. This gets your blood flowing and helps you squeeze your anger out. It helps when you're stuck at work or in a car and don't have much else to do to relieve stress.

10. Make time for friends

Another important one to remember. Get out and have fun with friends, or a friend. Make memories that you'll remember forever and laugh, this will help the most to forget all your worries. Friends take time to listen, understand and try to make you feel better. Take time to relax and enjoy each others company.

11. Painting

This one is one of my favorites. I paint pretty often as is, but when i am stressed i paint more, and I have found it helps take my mind off things. I can express how i feel with paint on a canvas and feel accomplished with I'm finished.

12. Yoga

This one is very popular, and a lot of people do this daily. It's good for the mind, body and soul. I highly recommend trying it at least once when you're feeling like your stress meter is above average. Even before it happens, try yoga once in the morning and see how your days improve after that.

13. Essential Oils

These are sold almost everywhere you go, the natural ones are the best though. They're a little pricey but it's worth it without all the chemicals! There are thousands of different oils for different results, they have some for sleeping, relaxation or just an every day energy boost. Try it out next time you're feeling stress, you can take deep breaths and turn on relaxing music to help.

14. Watch a good movie

This is one i find myself doing pretty often. I love movies and i find they help me get my mind of things. Usually a children's movie or a comedy, nothing with a lot of drama in it. It helps you sit and relax for a bit and unwind.

15. Pray

I know not everyone is religious, and that's fine. If you're not then take a moment to sit and reflect on life and what you've gone through, think of all the positive times and what you're thankful for. And if you are religious, pray! Pray until you feel content, ask to be protected and guided through this stressful time.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
