1. Carve it.

Pumpkin carving is a timeless classic. You can carve traditional jack-o-lanterns with faces, or you can go for a more aesthetic approach and carve intricate designs and patterns into the surface to make festive but flattering decorations.

2. Paint it.

If you're more of a painter than a sculptor, no worries here. There are many techniques to painting the perfect pumpkin for your taste, including dip-dying, splatter painting, sponge painting for a galaxy effect or simply putting your artistic skills on a pumpkin.

3. Eat it.

Probably the best part of any meal. There are thousands of delicious pumpkin recipes to try; from pumpkin soups to cookies and fudge. Of course, there's simply nothing that beats the ultimate pumpkin pie.

4. Bowl with it.

You can use anything as pins, like water bottles and toilet paper, and set up a bowling lane. Simply roll your pumpkin into the pins and voila, strike!

5. Turn it into a pretty lantern.

If jack-o-lanterns aren't your thing, you can still create gorgeous lanterns for your patio, backyard and home. After carving your pumpkin, place an electric tea light in your pumpkin and your decoration will surely light up the room.

6. Make it into a candle.

Turn your boring pumpkin into a fully-functioning, aromatic candle that'll make your whole house smell like a fresh pumpkin patch. Click here to learn how to create one yourself.

7. Turn it into a planter.

Air plants such as succulents are a popular favorite this year. Requiring low maintenance and adding a cute flair, all you need to do is scoop the insides out of the pumpkin, clean the inside and place your succulent inside to live cozily, or simply hot glue moss and your succulent on top.

8. Use it as a barricade.

Don't want your dog getting out of your backyard? Trying to shield your little cousins from entering your room? Pumpkins will do the trick. They are a naturally-growing barricade that are quite large and heavy, and therefore are a hassle to try to move.

9. Use it as a chair.

Use a single pumpkin as a chair or a couple for a couch. Pumpkins are easily manipulatable to conform to your perfect position.

10. Smash it.

What can be more fun than smashing a pumpkin with a baseball bat or hammer? Some call it crazy, some call it bonding with friends...

11. Use it as a weight.

Staying in shape this season can be rough. From endless candy to Thanksgiving meals. There are dozens of workouts that are specifically molded around pumpkins to get fit this fall.

12. Drop it from buildings.

Drop it from buildings. Or cherry pickers. Actually, drop it from anywhere. Pumpkins are just fun to watch explode.

13. Use it as a holder for your eyeglasses.

Can't seem to find your glasses? The stems on pumpkins are a perfect holder for your spectacles. Never lose your glasses again! Plus, your pumpkin will look kinda cute.

14. Hide your valuables in it.

Just like Kanye, pumpkins are a fun, yet secret, place to stash your valuables. Nobody will think to look in a pumpkin for anything. Keep your pumpkin outside to hold your house keys or inside for a safe bank.

15. Use it to manage stress.

Pumpkins are the best stress-reliever in autumn. Ever feel raged or stressed out and want to stab something? Now, this behavior and mindset may be particularly concerning, however, a pumpkin can surely help settle your emotions in a harmless way.

Have fun this fall, stay safe and don't forget to boogie this Halloween like Dancing Pumpkin Man!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
