15 Cool College Dorm Decorations And Space-Savers
Bed Bath & Beyond

Ever since I was a kid, when I thought about going to college- I thought more about how fun it will be to decorate my dorm room rather than actually attending a college.

That is also when I wanted to have a career in Interior Design, since then I have found a stronger passion for web-based design. Unfortunately, most dorm rooms are so small that you might need an interior designer to show you what you should buy to be able to save as much room as possible! This year I have chosen to attend a community college near my home that I commute to. As most of my peers are posting pictures of their newly-decorated dorm rooms, I'm planning my future one! Here are some of the coolest and space-friendly dorm wall decor I have found so far!

1. Paper Heart Wall Organizer from PBteen ($49)

Cute and perfect for storage! This organizer mounts to your dorm room wall with the included 3M adhesive strips. Since space is so important, here are the measurements. Overall: 24" wide x 2" deep x 12" high.

2. WallPops!® Die-Cut Cork World Map Pinboard Decal with Pushpins from Bed Bath & Beyond ($19.99)

Instead of buying an art print of a map- why not get this and also have the perks of pinning pictures to it?! This comes with 10 push pins and contains removable peel & stick liner sheets. Measures approximately 26" W x 16" H.

3. Cinema Box LED Light from Urban Outfitters($59)

Afraid of not liking your dorm room after seeing it everyday? An easy change can be done by this LED marquee sign. This is a perfect way to make your dorm room more personal.

4. Light-Up Marquee Over-the-Door Mirror from Bed Bath & Beyond($59.99)

2-in-1! Lights + Mirror! 18 LED lights that can be switched on and off along with a timer set to turn off every 3 hours. Measures 47.75" L x 19.25" W.

5. Metallic Script Monogram Mirror from PBteen($169)

Monogram signs have been quite the rage this school year! I like to have unique things- so I would totally have this in my dorm room! This monogram mirror comes in sparkling gold or sparkling silver and can be customized. Overall Dimensions: 23" diameter, 0.75" thick.

7. Umbra® Hangit Photo Display from Bed Bath & Beyond($19.99)

I'm honestly not a big fan of plain-old picture frames. This jazzes it up and saves space as well!

6. Kikkerland® Design Festive Storage Banner from Bed Bath & Beyond($9.99)

How neat! Decor and storage! My only concern for this product would be that the banner colors might not match the overall theme of someones dorm room. This can easily be fixed by your favorite colored felt and some hot glue! Measures 72" L x 8" W x 8" H.

7. Abode Well Wall Decor in Copper from ModCloth($29.99)

8. Arrow Necklace Organizer from Urban Outfitters ($19)

Also sold in White, this decorative space saving piece is perfect for a college dorm room.

9. Battery Powered Pizza String Lights from Dormify ($25)

NEED I SAY MORE?

10. Across-Stitch the World Map from ModCloth ($49.99)

Imagine receiving this the first year you attend college and then working on it for the next four years! This is an awesome way to mark your adventures throughout your college journey. This set comes with red, blue, green, and orange thread along with two #24 embroidery needles. This is the perfect gift or decoration for an art lover!

11. Hanging Metal Medallion Wall Decor from Urban Outfitters ($39)

12. Hanging Glass Terrarium from PBteensmall($39) large($59)

Trust me, if you put some cacti in these hanging planters, it will seem as if you don't even have a living plant needing to be kept up with!

13. Walls Need Love Desert Cacti Wall Decal Set from Urban Outfitters ($78)

I definitely have a thing for cacti. This is a set of 6 peel + stick cactus decals that are approximately 9 ft tall with DETACHABLE SUCCULENTS!!

14. Kangarui For DENY Pastel Cactus Tapestry from Urban Outfitters ($69)

Tapestries for the win! They are flat, so they do not take up any space. These can also double as a bed accessory. Dimensions: 60"l x 80"h.

15. Glow-In-The-Dark Constellation Map Tapestry from Urban Outfitters ($59)

In the day time this tapestry is a navy map of constellations. At night it glows in the dark! This is very unique along with being very cool!

If you are looking to have a cool, modern dorm room this fall, then I hope this gave you some ideas on how to have a stylish home away from home!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
