College is filled with a lot of highs and lows, pros and cons, and hundreds of learning experiences.

1. Meal plans.

Meal plans are both the best and worst thing about college. All you have to do is swipe your card, and you get food! Until your balance goes to $0.00 and there are five weeks left in the semester.

2. Multiple tests in one week.

One test is usually stressful enough, but when you have multiple? Or two in one day? You can count on getting no sleep due to all the studying.

3. Buying textbooks.

Without Amazon Prime and Chegg, we would all be hopeless. Despite the careful planning and ordering, or renting, of your books weeks before, there is always that one textbook that's back ordered until weeks after class starts. Not to mention, they're so expensive!

4. Registration.

College class registration might as well be considered part of the "Hunger Games." You could submit your ideal class plan as soon as the portal opens, but even with 50+ seats available, your chances of getting in are slim to none. Thinking about overloading into the class? Good luck.

5. Procrastination.

Every college student has been there: you've got four assignments due tomorrow, but you just can't stop watching YouTube videos or texting your friends and so on. Just know, you're not alone.

6. Freshman 15.

Coming home for break is always a blow to the self-esteem when your parents and friends comment on how much you've grown since being in college. And unless you happened to grow taller, you can assume they're talking about your growing waistline. Be weary of the pay-one-price buffet style food -- it's a trap!

7. Obsessing over your smart and cute TA or professor.

The worst. You're just trying to focus during class but you can't help but glance over periodically. On the bright side, at least, you make it a priority to attend all of their review sessions!

8. Looking forward to the weekend.

Now, this doesn't have to be just after a rough week, although that's pretty much every week. Does Thirsty Thursday count as part of the weekend? Every college student looks forward to those two or three days of turning up before we have to get back to turning over the pages of our notebooks and textbooks.

9. Developing a crush on your (or another building's) RA.

Don't lie, at one point of another, you've definitely walked on another floor, or through another building, with hopes of seeing your favorite RA. Oh, wait, this isn't my building? Whoops!

10. Walking to class in extreme weather conditions.

Mission impossible. Whether it's just flurries, negative degrees outside, or there's snow up to your knees on the ground, you just can't win! But of course, class is never cancelled. We don't want you, snow!

11. Being broke.

The life of a college student is hard. Being a broke college student is even harder, especially when all you want is some off campus food or you have an addiction to online shopping.

12. Laundry.

It's always fun when you have just enough time in your busy schedule to do laundry, but all the machines are full. Most of the time they're occupied by people who forgot to (or didn't feel like) taking their laundry out. So, of course, as bad as you feel, you have to remove the clothes. Sorry, not sorry!

13. Bad test grade.

It's happened to all of us, you study and study yet don't receive the grade you hoped for. Just know, there is always the next test to make up for the lost points!

14. Homesickness.

Don't even try to deny this, at one point or another, you have definitely missed something about home. Whether it be your family, pets, hometown foods, or friends, homesickness is inevitable!

15. Late night fire drills.

A personal favorite. The one night you decide you're going to go to bed before midnight -- then the annoying alarm sounds. You're woken up from your peaceful sleep and forced to blindly find warm enough clothes and shoes to stand outside in. At least you weren't in the shower this time!

Despite dealing with a few of these struggles, there are also fun times. They say the college years are the best years. Let's live it up!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
