RX Breakup

When you’re going through a break up, it feels as though nothing will ease the pain. Even if it was mutual, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt any less. And if it’s not… that’s even more unbearable. But break-ups are inevitable. How you deal with them is what’s most important. The best way to get over a break up is to first accept the pain of being dumped. Embrace it. It’ll make you stronger. Second, you make yourself a kickass playlist with the best breakup songs you can find and listen to it until your heart hurts just a little bit less.

Here are my 15 best break-up songs guaranteed to make you smile, make you laugh, make you cry, and make your heart hurt just a little bit less.

1. Demi Lovato – Sorry Not Sorry

After watching the “Simply Complicated” documentary, I have so much more respect for this beautiful woman. Her stories. Her struggles. Her voice. #WomanCrushWednesday right here and I am so not ashamed to admit it. Whenever I’m in need of a pick me up, Demi Lovato is always one of my go-to artists. This song has become a favorite as of late. It’s sassy and full of attitude.

2. Demi Lovato – You Don’t Do It For Me Anymore

Anyone else get chills when they hear this song? I swear every time I listen to it I get goosebumps!

3. Shania Twain – Man, I Feel Like A Woman

Get off the couch. Put down the ice cream container. Dance it out!

4. Cher – Strong Enough

My queen. I bow to you. I’ve been listening to this incredible woman since I was a teenager and while disco in feeling, this song is about being strong enough to let go and start rebuilding your life.

5. Pink – So What

Need I say more? Attitude. Sass. Perfection! "So, so what/I'm still a rock star/I got my rock moves/And I don't need you/And guess what/I'm having more fun now that we're done/I'm gonna show you tonight/I'm alright/I'm just fine/And you're a tool/So what"

6. Paul Abdul – Cold Hearted Snake

I once had a dream that I, along with several other individuals, took over a night club and rocked it out with this song. I wasn’t as fabulous as the original herself, but I think I did good for being in a dream!

7. Demi Lovato – Really Don’t Care

Obviously, I’m obsessed with Demi Lovato but whatever. Her music is freaking amazing and perfect for listening to when you have a broken heart and need a pick me up. “Even if the stars and moon collide/I never want you back into my life/You can take your words and all your lies/I really don’t care.”

8. Miranda Lambert – Mama’s Broken Heart

Poor Miranda. Overthrown for the original queen of 90s punk rock. The video is even more awesome so if you haven’t seen it, I highly suggest you watch it.

“Go and fix your makeup/Girl it’s just a breakup/Run and hide your crazy and start acting like a lady/Cuz I raised you better/got it keep it together even when you fall apart/But this ain’t my mama’s broken heart”

9. ZZ Ward – Last Love Song

If you haven’t cried yet or need a song to make you cry, this is it. ZZ Ward’s ‘Last Love Song’ breaks my heart every time I hear it.

“No more white picket fences/no more white lace or vows/no more, you’re the only one and that’s all done with now”

10. Gloria Gaynor – I Will Survive

Yes, you will my loves! Turn it up and dance it out!

11. Sinead O’Connor – Nothing Compares 2 U

Again, another song where if you need to cry, this is the song to cry to.

12. Kelly Clarkson – Since You Been Gone

As much as I loved the acapella version on Pitch Perfect, I still prefer the original version because nobody does a break-up song like Kelly Clarkson.

13. Janet Jackson – What Have You Done For Me Lately?

Janet, Miss Jackson, herself with this song. When the tables have turned, and your love no longer treats you like the queen that you are.

14. Poison – Every Rose Has Its Thorn

Alright. I’ll admit this one surprised me too but when I was going through a break-up, this song was like a warm cup of hot chocolate to my cold, broken heart.

15. Lisa Marie Presley – Idiot

Though it’s been a few years since the release of this song…eight, to be exact, this song is pretty much the f*** you break up song every girl needs.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
