Prayers for Special Help

Too often in life, we may find ourselves worrying. Whether it be about our future, our past, or we just do not know how to think, we can find ourselves caught in an endless cycle. Our minds can be mangled and our thoughts seem overwhelming. Although this can be the case, peace is achievable. Remembering that The Lord is our savior and that He holds our lives in His hands can bring us comfort in these times of stress and anxiety. These Bible verses remind us how powerful and loving our God really is.

1. Exodus 14:14 "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."

You do not to worry about winning every battle by yourself. God will always be by your side and God will be by your side through every situation, good or bad.

2. Jeremiah 29:11 "'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares The Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'"

The Lord knows what will become of you and your future. It may be hard to realize at the moment, but everything does happen for a reason. God knows your plan and His plan is good.

3. Psalm 107: 29-30 "He caused the storm to be still, So that the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad because they were quiet, So He guided them to their desired haven."

The Lord brings peace. In the rough times and the chaos of the world, The Lord will provide the calm. He will bring peace to our hearts.

4. Psalm 56:3 "When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You."

We must remember to turn to The Lord in times of fear. We cannot go through life alone. Trusting God when we are unsure will bring us a peace of mind.

5. Isaiah 26:12 "Lord, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished you have done for us."

The Lord will bring us what we need. All that we do must be in His name. The Lord will provide and The Lord will bring peace.

6. Micah 4:4 “But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid; for the mouth of The Lord of hosts has spoken.”

God loves us all. He loves each and everyone of us and embraces us with His love. His love is unfailing and unconditional and it is imperative that we accept this love.

7. Proverbs 16:3 "Commit your work to The Lord, and your plans will be established."

When we feel as if we are getting nothing out of what were doing, we have to remember to live for The Lord. The Lord will provide and we must show our gratitude,

8. Proverbs 19:21 "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of The Lord that will stand."

We may or may not believe that we have everything planned. We may think we know what to do at times, but it is the purpose of God that is absolute. His plan will be a constant.

9. Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"

We cannot worry about the simple everyday stress. Yes, we must focus on what we are doing, but we cannot be consumed with these thoughts. Turning our hearts and minds to The Lord is what will bring us what we really need.

10. Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Praying to God will aid us when we feel anxious. Remembering that The Lord is always listening will help us to see that we do not have to have everything figured out.

11. Philippians 4:13 "I can do all this through Him who gives me strength."

The Lord brings strength. When we feel too weak to go on or to face a time in our lives, we can be strong in the Lord. The Lord will place His hands on you.

12. Romans 12:2 "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

Focusing on God rather than worldly ideas will remind us how God's will is eternal. Praying for trust in The Lord will help us to see that what we are facing is temporary and God is forever.

13. Luke 21:19 "Stand firm, and you will win life."

When we stand firm in the name of The Lord, we will win. Nothing can defeat The Lord and standing with Him will allow us to face life with a stronger mind and a loving heart.

14. 1 Corinthians 16:3 "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong."

The Lord will provide us with the courage we need when we live by faith. Our faith can allow us to continue on in the hard times as we know that God will help us through.

15. Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

God is our God. He is a mighty and gracious God and he will never fail us. The Lord will keep us in safety and assures eternal life and love by the grace He gives. Turning to The Lord and placing your life in His hands will truly bring you the strength you need.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
