Being an owner of three dogs, I can say that getting a dog has been one of the best things that has happened in my life. There's a reason dogs are called man's best friend and I recommend that you get yourself a dog. I guarantee you that it's the best investment you will make. If you don't believe me, here are fifteen reasons that will change your mind

1. They love you no matter what

To them, you're everything and they see past all of your flaws and mistakes and love you for who you are. It doesn't matter what you or what you say. You may get mad at them sometimes and may yell at them but at the end of the day they still love you and they always will.

2. You (and your kids) will always have someone to play with

3. You always have someone to talk to

Maybe you need to memorize a speech and what better audience than your dog? Maybe you just want to tell someone about your day. We all have those times where we just need someone to listen to us and your dog is the perfect audience. They don't speak or interrupt you, they just stand and listen. And even though they never say anything back, it's like they know exactly what you're saying and give you that confidence boost that you need.

4. You always have someone to snuggle with

5. They always put you in a better mood

We've all had bad days. I know from experience that even when I am in the worst possible mood, as soon as I see my dogs come up to me, all of those negative feelings get pushed aside. Even something as simple as them coming up to you to say hello can turn any frown upside down.

6. They always want to cheer you up

Days where you just want to lie down in bed and never get up. You'll think that no one cares or notices but you would be wrong. Dogs always seem to know when there's something wrong and want to comfort you. I've had moments when I am feeling down and my dogs seem to notice and just come and sit by me. No dog ever likes to see their master unhappy so they go out of their way to make you happy. Because when you're happy, they're happy.

7.They're great for meeting people

One trick I see people use as a conversation starter is when they're walking their dogs. Dogs by nature always take notice of other people and dogs and will let you know it whenever they see them. Dogs will love to socialize with other dogs and as a result you get to socialize with other dog owners and because of your dogs, you will already have something to talk about making them great conversation starters.

8. You always have someone to greet you

Whether it's been a month long vacation or a 5 minute trip to the store, your dogs are always excited to see you. Nothing makes me happier than hearing the loud barking of my dogs every time I come home.

9. They're always happy to see you

Nothing makes a dog happier than seeing their master come home. And being a dog owner, there's nothing I look more forward to when I get home than seeing my dogs rushing to see me after a long day. Whenever you go out, they sit and wait for you to return. They may fall asleep in between but once they hear the sound of that door open, they roll out the red carpet for you. And not just for you but for your guests as well. Dogs love meeting new people and are never too shy to introduce themselves.

10. They never judge

Even if you're dressed like a complete fool, even if you're listening to a corny song, even if you told the world's worst joke it doesn't matter to your dog. They never judge you. They just stare and go right back to what they're doing.

11. Food will never go to waste

We've all had that moment at dinner where we have a few scraps left on the plate and can't eat another bite. Why let the food go to waste when you have a perfectly hunger little creature waiting by your feet begging? I know kids will definitely be sneaking their vegetables off their plates. Yes your kids aren't eating their veggies but hey at least know your food isn't going to waste.

12. They help keep you in shape

Dogs LOVE to go for walks and love exercise. By keeping your dog in shape, you're helping to keep yourself in shape as well. Taking your dog for a walk is a great way to get off the couch and go outside. Taking you dog out for a walk is good for keeping them healthy and in shape and soon you'll notice that by going for a walk every chance you get, you'll actually start to see yourself getting in better shape too.

13. They're always there for you

Whether you need someone to watch TV with, someone to take goofy pictures with or just someone to keep you company, your dog will always be there for you.

14. They will make you happier

Dogs make everyone happy!! It's a fact. Even the grouchiest person can't help but crack a smile when they are greeted by a friendly canine. I know in my family that we became a lot happier when we got our first dog, and the happiness only increased when we got our other two dogs!! Pets are great for teaching kids responsibility and if you really want to make your kid learn and also make them happy then get them a puppy! They will love the puppy and in return will love you!!

15. They make you a better person

I know from my own personal experiences with my dogs that they have made me a better person. They've made me happier and more caring towards others. They give only love and only want it in return. Having a dog really makes you a better person as it teaches you responsibility and also teaches you to be more loving. My dogs have also kept me sane in this crazy world and have brought me so much joy and many memories that I will always cherish.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
