15 Best New Year's Resolutions And How To Keep Them

With Christmas basically behind us, it is time to start thinking about the next holiday: New Year's Day. It is time to start planning parties, buying fireworks, and brainstorming about your New Year's resolutions. Right about now is the time we all sit down and think about what we want to do differently in the following year. Here are 15 examples of the best New Year's resolutions and how to achieve them in the new year.

1. Eat healthier.

How to Achieve: Eat lots and lots of chocolate....and junk food. You'll have abs hiding behind that layer of fat in no time.

2. Get in shape.

How to Achieve: Binge watch hours and hours of Netflix. You'll be running marathons before you know it.

3. Get out more and meet new people.

How to Achieve: Spend your day between sleeping, eating, and Netflixing. People are overrated anyways.

4. Spend less money.

How to Achieve: See a movie here, go out to eat there. Besides, you can buy a money tree, I'm sure the harvest will be plentiful.

5. Give more freely.

How to Achieve: Buy a gift you really like then keep it. You deserve it, probably.

6. Watch less TV and be more active.

How to Achieve: Have you ever heard of Netflix?

7. Dress better.

How to Achieve: Do you own a pair of sweatpants/yoga pants. Buy some, live in them. Seriously, they are the best.

8. Clean more/Be cleaner.

How to Achieve: Save the mess for later, maybe the cleaning fairy will visit when you're not looking.

9. Be more forgiving.

How to Achieve: Think about the wrongdoer, brood, let it stew for a while, and never let it go.

10. Be more punctual.

How to Achieve: Meeting at 9? leave at 9, I'm sure there will be no traffic or stoplights, or anything that could possibly slow you down.

11. Spend more time with those you love.

How to Achieve: You could spend what little free time you have with them and even carve out time in your busy schedule to see them OR you could play with your cat.

12. Drink more water.

How to Achieve: Sure water is better for you and it flows freely from your kitchen sink, but have you ever tasted a soda or juice or coffee?!? I love juice.

13. Improve sleeping habits.

How to Achieve: Stay up late reading that book or watching that movie, you won't regret it in the morning, I promise.

14. Stop procrastinating.

How to Achieve: eh, you can work on this one later.

15. Stick to your New Year's resolution.

How to Achieve: Don't make any.

I'm serious. Obviously, I don't think you can achieve your goals by following my advice, but I do have a point. You can stick to your New Years resolutions by not making any. I don't make New Year's resolutions anymore because I aways fail, and I feel even worse about myself than when I started. I don't believe in changing a habit because it is a new year. If the only reason you are making a New Year's resolution is to have one, to have something to aim for in the new year, then you will not succeed. Don't get me wrong, I totally believe in wanting to better yourself, but not because it is a new year. If you truly want to change, you have to do it for yourself. Not for the new year, not for your significant other, not for your family, but for yourself. Don't use the new year as an excuse. I hear people always say, I want to lose weight, but I'll just wait to the new year. If you truly wanted to change then you would do it. Resolutions are a lie, real change doesnt start on January first. Real change is a process that starts only when you are ready. You won't be able to achieve any of these New Year's resolutions by following my written advice, but you also won't accomplish them if you aren't doing it for the right reasons. So Happy New Year's and I hope your resolution is to not make any resolutions.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
