I've always loved the ocean; the sound of the waves crashing against the shore and the smell of the water floating to surround me as my feet sink into the warm sand. But since I live in the mountains in New York, I don't get to see it that often. In recent months, I have come across pictures of some beaches that I definitely plan to visit when I have a chance.
1. Pfeiffer Beach, Big Sur, California
2. Cavendish Beach, Prince Edward Island, Canada
3. Black Sand Beach, Vik, Iceland
4. Rockaway Beach, Pacifica, California
5. Balos, Crete, Greece
6. Playa Negra, Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica
7. Porto Covo, Portugal
8. Pink Sands Beach, Harbour Island, Bahamas
9. Angaga Islands, Maldives
10. Muriwai Black Sand Beach, Aukland, New Zealand
11. Whatipu Beach, Aukland, New Zealand
12. Hyams Beach, New South Wales, Australia
13. Kaihalulu, Maui, Hawaii
14. Papakōlea Beach, Hawaii
15. Ramla Bay, Gozo, Malta
The main reason I want to visit all of these beaches is because I want to see all the different colored sands. I'm fascinated by the different colors caused by various situations, such as high iron content, olivine crystals, calcium carbonate, quartz and manganese deposits, and even volcanic activity. These beaches are all on my list of places to visit, only to be close to the ocean again and get to see the many different colored sands around the world.
