Somewhere On A Beach

15 things you need to keep your beach day sunny with no chance of rain.

Dierks Bentley said it best, that the best place to be is somewhere on a beach. No matter where you are this summer, you have probably gone to a beach or are planning on it. And let’s be real, when you go to the beach it’s not for an hour it’s for the day. So here is a list of things to pack to keep you going all day.

1. Bathing suit

With all the styles out there, get a bathing suit you feel confident in. No one is going to be staring at you and how you look as everyone on the beach is just as self-conscious.

2. Cover-up

For when your shoulders inevitably get burned, your cover-up will protect them from continuous torture. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, a plain T-shirt will do the trick.

3. Sunglasses

To keep the sun’s harmful rays out of those baby blues

4. Hat

Always bring a hat. Your forehead is one of the first places to be burned from the sun and a hat can keep you protected all day long. And theres a bunch of cute styles that there is at least one hat that looks good on everyone.

5. Towel

This one item can be used as many ways. It can be something used to dry off after swimming, something for you to dry your hair with, somewhere for you to lay down, somewhere for you to sit, a pillow, a cover-up, a blanket, and by tying the ends together…a bag to carry all your stuff. In other words, bring a towel and use it for everything.

6. Chap stick

At least with an SPF 15. Your lips will thank me later for this. And yes, Baby Lips has an SPF of 20 in all its chap-sticks no matter the tint.

7. Sunscreen

Tanning sunscreen, SPF 50, I don’t care you just need some sort of sunscreen.

8. Hair tie

No matter how you style your hair to keep it out of your face while at the beach, by the end of the day I can almost guarantee it will not be the same unless you are some magical creature whose hair always looks good no matter if there is a tornado outside or a torrential downpour.

--> Hooking all your hair ties on a caribeaner will help ensure you don't loose your hair ties at the bottom of your bag.

9. Headphones

You always need some good summer jams when you're “somewhere on a beach”

10. Portable Charger

There is something about being at the beach that can drain anyone's phone battery. Throw a (charged) portable charger in your bag to keep you going.

--> This cute one pictured above is from Target and comes in a couple different colors. It also hooks on to any zipper so you never loose it!

11. A good book

Always, always, always carry a good book wherever you go. You never know when you’ll have some downtime to read this summer’s latest book… may I recommend a summer romance story?

12. Ice cold beverages

Whatever you decide to drink on the beach whether it be soda, seltzer, or alcohol, make sure you grab a bottle of water to keep you hydrated.

13. Money

For 3 o’clock when the ice cream truck rolls around or for a little snack throughout the day.

14. Sandals

Sandals are by far the easiest shoes to take off as soon as you hit the sand. Once you set up your camp for the day, flip your sandals over to prevent them from burning up with the suns rays.

15. Beach Bag

You always need something to throw all your necessities in!

I hope these essentials help you pack and your beach day provides sunny skies.

female tv characters
We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:

If you are like me, you have an interesting personality. Basically, you love to be sassy and snarky, gossip, and act like a total bitch (not really), but deep down, you are actually a very genuinely nice person. The idea of actually hurting someone truly makes you feel bad, and you probably have never actually hurt someone’s feelings because your kindness always shines through, even if you do not want it to. Not sure exactly what I would call this type of personality, but if you identify with it, here are some feelings you can undoubtedly relate to.
