Saint Patrick's Day was last week, which is my day to shine. Since I am very Irish, I use this day as an excuse to embrace my fair skin and tell everyone how awesome being Irish is. It was not until this year that I realized that my Irish quirks are not as normal as I thought it was. You know you're really Irish when...
1. You tell all of your friends the true meaning of St. Patrick's Day since it is your favorite holiday.
It's not just about drinking.
2. But you insist you all must drink to celebrate.
It's what the Irish want.
3. You know actual words to Irish songs.
And probably more than one.
4. And you force your non-Irish friends to listen to them.
It's only for a day.
5. You get really offended when non-Irish people pretend to be Irish just on March 17.
Step aside.
6. You've watch an Irish Step Dance or a Gaelic Storm concert.
And they're all really good.
7. You own more than one piece of jewelry with a claddagh or four leave clover on it.
And wear it every day.
8. You might have a bit of a potty mouth.
It's usually necessary.
9. You have a very distinct Irish name.
Meaning a Catholic first name and a last name that cannot be mistaken. (O'something, McLastname, ect.)
10. You call your family members to wish them a Happy St. Patrick's Day.
Or you even get together to see them.
11. Your love for Soda Bread is unexplainable.
It. Is. So. Good.
12. Family gatherings usually revolve around a drink.
I mean no one is complaining.
13. You're always the palest of your friend group.
No tan is a safe tan!
14. You love your heritage!
