Coming from a small town like Cass City, there are so many things that we can all relate to.
Here's just a few of them:
1. Star of the West
You see so many semi-trucks come through town in the summer and fall months and can't understand why they're J-Braking so much or what's the big deal with coming through town. After driving out of town, you realize that we actually have a wheat mill.
2. Privacy
Let's face it- there is none. Everyone knows everyone else’s business and if they don't, they feel the need to.
"I love Cass City because you know the people you are surrounded by. I never had to worry if my car doors were locked or who my neighbor was. You know everyone and it was a nice town to grow up in. I never had to wait for a bridge, train, or light when I was in a hurry to get somewhere." - Hunter Langenburg
3. Studio 81 and Angels Hair Studio
They both have the best hair dressers and the best tanning beds around. They're willing to accommodate for your needs and their quality work is worth it! You can't beat the price of small town hair studios.
4. July 4th Parade
The only time of the year that you will see the entire community out and about. Even though the fire truck sirens are so loud that they hurt your ears, you love watching the beautiful horses, the candy being given out to children, and the way the motorcycle's go around each other without having an accident.
5. Homecoming and Snowcoming
These are the biggest sporting events of the year. Yet another time when such a large amount of the community will come together to support our Red Hawks.
6. Nick's Country Oven
Your grandma and grandpa are there every morning for their coffee, and you're there for dinner with your family. They make great food for a great price and it's so convenient.
7. Friendliness
Your neighbor is always willing to look after your home when you're away on vacation. Someone is always willing to take your child home after a sports event. You can always rely on someone.
8. Parkway
One of the only locations that you can drive through to get the quickest, most delicious pizza and the pick out whatever rink or candy you want without having to leave your car.
9. Where’s The Grocery Store?
Since Erla’s closed a little while ago, we’ve become desperate for our groceries that we’re willing to make the commute to Sandusky or Caro’s Walmart. Thankfully, Dollar General has picked up some of the things we absolutely need.
"Even though Cass City doesn't have a grocery store and basically everyone knows absolutely everything you do, Cass City is a great place. Being able to run home in between classes to grab a snack, having your best friends as neighbors, and seeing the way the community comes together in times of distress just shows how much we all love one another." -Taylor Rassmussen
10. Tom Thumb Singers
The concerts they put on every winter are phenomenal. They way the choir can have such depth with their voices amazes you. Missing the concert is something you do not want to do.
11. Village Grill & Chill
The place to be in the summer. They make the best cheese fries along with everything else on their menu. It can get so hot in the summer and being able to go to a family owned business for some cold ice cream is a great way to end your day.
12. Summer
In the summer, if the kids aren't on the ball fields practicing or playing the games, they're probably at the pool getting their swimming lessons or at the Arts and Crafts building learning new things. If the high schoolers aren't at work, they're probably playing disc golf in the woods or they're out mudding.
"There is something extra special about Cass City. In the spring, ball games are being played on so many different fields at so many different levels. On top of that, the Parks and Rec program is amazing! For only $10.00 a day, kids can participate in arts and crafts, sports camps, and swim at the village pool. Swimming lessons were not available at my home town. " -Christin Hempton
13. Cass City Theater
Even though it doesn't have the most comfortable seating and the movies have probably come out a few weeks prior to the showing date in town, you'll go to the movies a few times a year because you love the small town atmosphere. Before every movie they tell you to turn your cell phones off and put your pop cans at the front of the theater when you're done with them. It's such a homey place to go.
