In college, you meet all sorts of people. It’s the first time in life that people express their true personality, get involved in their passion and work toward their dream. Freshman year, it was a whole new ballpark. Each person seemed so different and unique. It seems hard to adjust with all these new strong personalities, but, as the years go on, you become a college expert. Here are some of the types of people you will meet in college.

1. Everyone’s Friend

There is always that person who walks around campus and knows everybody and their mama. Constantly with a smile, they are nice to each person on campus. Even though you don’t know them that well, they will treat you like their best friend. This is a quality person that you know will be successful from their continual kindness.

2. Pre-Med Or Die Student

Grey’s Anatomy started a beast. Pre-med students might have a little bit of Meredith Grey’s dark and twisty personality when it comes to competition, but deep down it’s because they have passion. These are dedicated people who are committed to struggle because of their dream.

3. Intense Hipster Music Lover

This person always has their headphones in and wouldn’t dare to be listening to mainstream music. They are always at a God-knows-who-this-band-is concert. They are always down to listen to new songs. This is the person that you want to be friends with because of their open mind. They are always open learn about new things and explore their musical taste.

4. The Person Who Lives In The Library

You have never seen this person anywhere other than the library. Insider secret, they live there. The library is their home from the college workload. A textbook makes a good pillow.

5. "Srat" Is Probably Her Middle Name

She is always with her sisters and reppin’ her letters. Her destiny was to be in a sorority. Thank God for college. You always see her in the newest srat trends. She is never behind in fashion or handing all her srat events. This girl knows how to have a good time with her sisters, whether it is day or night.

6. Frat Lord

Like the srat, brotherhood was his destiny. He lowkey would do anything for his frat, but doesn’t want to seem overattached. Often misjudged, this guys always know how to have a good convo. They are involved with their brotherhood and always know what’s poppin’ around campus.

7. College Glow Up

This person was invisible in high school. You didn’t notice this person which is your b. You should have, though, because this person is now basically a model. Never limit anybody. You never know where they might be in a few years.

8. Definitely Has Insomnia

You see this person all the time at night and during the day. You have no idea when this person sleeps. They always have a coffee or Monster in their hand. Teach me your ways.

9. Poli-Sci Campaign Manager

They always find a way to endorse their favorite politician. They know exactly what’s up in politics and can give you a full update with some of their opinion. You know you will have a full on debate with them if you begin to talk about politics.

10. Probably Will Be In The Olympics

Always in the gym, on a team or eating something healthy. This person is a walking Nike advertisement. How they do it? I don’t know. I need to be working out, but I’ll do it tomorrow.

11. Still Wearing Last Night’s Makeup

A little bit of eyeliner on from last night, but who cares? She always shares her best stories from the night before.

12. Premature Businessman

One day this person will look great in a suit. They are practically always professional and could sell you a sack of potatoes.

13. Die Hard Fan

Always ready for all the games. Constantly has team attire on.

14. Wait, They Still Go Here?

Enough said. You didn’t even realize they went here because they are never seen around campus.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
