Moms are our biggest supporters, our most trusted advisors, and our best friends. She’s the one person who will always be there, who can solve pretty much any problem, who would do absolutely anything for you and who will love you unconditionally, always and forever. No matter how old you get, you’ll always need your mom, but especially at times like these:
1. When you're sick
Feeling under the weather? Step one: call Mom. Even from afar, she can diagnose what’s wrong with you, tell you what meds to take and offer some sympathy to make you feel better (although what you really need is some of her homemade chicken noodle soup).
2. When you have to do any sort of scary, real-world, adult thing
You may consider yourself to be all grown up, but when it comes down to it, “adulting” is hard. You have to do all kinds of strange and intimidating things, like signing an apartment lease or scheduling your own doctor’s appointments. It makes you long for the days when your mom could do everything for you while you sat back eating SpaghettiOs watching “Blue’s Clues.” Now you’re on your own, but your mom will still be there to coach you through those times when you’re trying to be an adult but you actually have no idea what you’re doing.
3. When you're overwhelmed
Your mom knows just what to say to calm you down when you’re stressed out of your mind and on the verge of pulling your hair out. She can put things in perspective and remind you that it’ll turn out alright in the end.
4. When you're starving and don't have time to go to the grocery store
When the only things left in your fridge are a half-empty jar of pasta sauce and some expired yogurt, you’d do pretty much anything for one of your mom’s home-cooked meals. Life was a whole lot easier when she could make you dinner every night.
5. When you do something you're really proud of
Your biggest accomplishment doesn’t quite mean anything until you’ve shared your success with your mom. After all, she gave birth to you, so she can pretty much take all the credit anyway.
6. When you miss your dog
You can count on her to send you adorable pictures of your dog at those moments when you’re missing his furry cuddles the most.
7. When you go shopping
Not only does your mom make a great fashion consultant (“I think you look beautiful no matter what you wear”), she is also susceptible to random surges of generosity, during which she may feel inclined to buy you those cute boots you’ve had your eye on. Mother-daughter shopping trips are the best.
8. When you need to make a decision
Whether it’s choosing your college major or deciding which dress to wear to formal, you could really use some help from your mom. When it comes to decisions—no matter how big or how small—moms give the best advice.
9. When you feel like you're not good enough
In her eyes, you’re ALWAYS good enough. Sometimes you just need to be reminded of that before you can pick yourself back up and keep on trudging through life.
10. When you try to cook and fail miserably
“Do you think it’s still safe to eat?”
11. When you try to cook and it actually turns out
“AND I DID IT ALL BY MYSELF!”
12. When you're homesick
On those days when you just really miss home, your mom is only a phone call away. It may not cure your homesickness, but it can make you feel a whole lot better.
13. When the rest of the world is against you
Your mom will always have your back, even when no one else does.
14. When you just need someone to rub your back and tell you everything is going to be OK
Moms are really good at that.
