14 Times Simon Cowell’s Face Accurately Described Syllabus Week

Syllabus week can be a bit hectic. You’re finding where your classes are, sizing up the workloads given by each professor and above all, you’re still trying to convince yourself that it’s all just a bad dream and that you’ll wake up on the beach any minute. However you want to look at it, syllabus week can be a mix of different emotions.

1. When you’re sitting in your first 8:30

2. When the professor tries to start teaching actual course material after the introduction slides

3. Casually sizing up the underclassmen as if you were never that clueless

4. When you actually know someone in your class

5. When you have that one cool professor that understands what syllabus week is for and lets you leave 30 minutes early

6. When the professor assigns homework on the first day

7. When you have to “say one interesting fact about yourself” to the class

8. Your first trip to the dining hall

9. When the professor says, “We won’t be using the textbook but you’re welcome to look through it outside of class for extra help” when you just spent $300 on it

10. Finally reuniting with your friends and knowing that it's about to go down

11. When the front row is the only option you have to sit when you walk in on the first day

12. When the syllabus clearly states attendance isn’t mandatory

13. When you accidentally walk into the wrong class and you have to do the walk of shame once you finally realize it

14. Realizing that you need to get your life together once syllabus week is over

Friendship. It's defined as the state of being attached to another person by feelings of affection or personal regard, but what really is friendship? Is it that occasional hallway talk with that one person who always manages to cheer you up? Is it that relationship you have with someone where they can be gone for a long period of time, but when they come back, it's like they never left? Is it spending every waking hour with someone, and knowing every detail about their life? Is it the relationship that's filled with fighting, but filled with even more resolution? I've learned that it's all of these things, and every friendship is different. It's a beautifully dysfunctional mess that should always be cherished and never be taken for granted.
