"Well the medallion says that's dumb, so we're not doing that."

Unless you didn’t have access to the internet or are not a fan of Harry Potter, you’ve at least heard of A Very Potter Musical. This fan-made musical by Starkid Productions out of the University of Michigan became a viral sensation in 2009. I loved it; my Facebook flair board had all sorts of pins with quotes from the musical on them.

But what about now? Well, it turns out that AVPM is even more relatable now that I’m in college. So buckle up: we’re going back to Hogwarts.

1. When you're really stressed and aren't sure what to do next

Dumbledore is very fond of Zac Efron, or, as he says, "Zefron." Maybe we all just need to consult our own Zefron every once and a while.

2. When you decide to splurge and buy yourself something you really don't need

I mean going to class everyday and studying hard is enough of a strain already, right? Sometimes you just have to TREAT YO' SELF.

3. When you decide that food is the answer to all your problems

Snacks on snacks on snacks. Ice cream, pizza, Doritos like Ginny... no food is safe once you hit a certain stress level.

4. When you reach that point in the semester when you just lose all motivation

Energy is hard to come by when midterms roll around, and finals are even worse. Just put me out of my misery.

5. When you get a bad grade and you're certain that your life is over

Okay, so maybe you don't drown your sorrows in a giant chocolate bar like Ron. But maybe you just eat some peanut butter right out of the jar because that's the stage of life that you're in right now.

6. When a professor tells you that you have to start working on something now because you can't leave it to the last minute

Spoiler alert: procrastination is a thing. And sometimes it's the most powerful force in the universe. So, yeah, staying up until 2 a.m. to work on a project happens. Sorry.

7. When you think that you'll make friends in class but don't end up talking to anyone, only to wonder why you don't know anybody

It can be hard to make friends in a class, especially when it's a huge lecture class. But then again, you have to make friends in case you don't understand the material. College, man.

8. When you're trying to reach the word count on an assignment

"So, this thing happened where it happened, at this time. That time was the time when this thing happened, in this place. This place was..."

9. When you study for fifteen minutes and decide to reward yourself by taking a break

That's enough, right? Right. Time to watch some cooking videos on YouTube. See you later.

10. When you actually know what you're talking about for once and someone questions you

Listen here, buddy. I might not know many things, but I know what this one thing is. So give me this moment, OK? Thanks.

11. When you wake up early to get to a class and find out that it's canceled

WHAT? So I woke up at 7 a.m. and drove to campus and this class is canceled. No, that's totally fine. Excuse me while I mourn my two hours of lost sleep.

12. When you hear that someone is giving out free stuff on campus

Out of my way, peeps. Free pizza? I'm there. Free shirts? Count me in. Tell me when and where, and I will be there.

13. When you realize that someone really attractive is in your class and you try to tell your friends about them

"No guys, you don't understand how attractive they are. You need to be there to understand. Seriously."

14. When you decide to take your college career one day at a time

Yeah it's cool, and it's totally awesome! Take things day by day and don't get too far ahead of yourself. You can do this!

Get out there and make Dumbledore proud, everyone. Study hard, make some memories, and remember: Pigfarts is waiting for you. All you need is determination... and a rocket ship.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

1. People assume you are mad all of the time.

2. Ten out of ten times you will give off an intimidating impression to others.

3. People do not acknowledge your feelings because you "do not have any."

4. Constantly being exhausted from trying to smile and not look like a witch.

5. And on the rare occasion your facial expressions show how happy you are, your friends think you are going crazy.

6. Each of your friends has said "I thought you were so mean when I first met you" at some point.

7. Then they follow that by saying "you are just hard to read."

8. So naturally if people do not know you they just assume you are a snob.

9. And when you are actually mad, your facial expressions are horrifying.

10. In the end you always look like you are judging people, when in reality people are ALWAYS judging you.
