14 Times Michael Scott Related To College Students On Winter Break

If you're like me (aka you have an incredible sense of humor) you've watched every episode of "The Office"... twice. The Michael Scott and Dwight Schrute duo never fails to keep me entertained, and I'm always laughing uncontrollably at the show. Surprisingly, even though Michael Scott is a manager for a paper company he seems to understands us college students quite well. It's not that us college students hate being home, it's just that we really like college. And going from talking to your family on the phone twice a week, to spending every waking moment with them for a month is a bit much. So, let us all take a moment to praise Michael Scott and the 14 times he explained how it feels to be a college student who returned home for winter break.

When you're fighting with your sibling, and your parents take their side instead of yours.

When you spend all of your Christmas money within a matter of two hours on things you probably didn't even need, but bought because they were on sale.

When your parents ask why there's a box of tissues next to you while you're on the computer checking if your final grades have been posted yet.

When your parents feel the need to wake you up at 8 a.m. so that you can 'stop wasting your day away by sleeping.'

When your family asks what happened to your plans of majoring in biology, and eventually becoming a doctor.

When a family member points out that even though you're excited to return to college in one week it means you'll also be returning to classes and homework.

When your parents suggest you start looking in to what summer classes are being offered at your college.

When your extended family members give you more money than normal for Christmas because they said they feel bad that 'you're a broke college student.'

When your family decides to gang up and make fun of you, so you just sit there like...

When you finally reunite with your high school friends, and have an excuse to get out of the house for a night.

When your family tells you your goal of getting a boyfriend/girlfriend next semester is never going to happen.

When you're singing to your favorite song in the shower, and your family yells at you to shut up through the door.

When your mom yells at you for how messy your room is, and how you still haven't fully unpacked yet.

When it's the last day of break, and finally time to go back to college.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
