It's here! It's finally happening!

College students around the country are rejoicing, and high schoolers are in tears... school is finally starting again!

The end of August brings mixed feelings for everyone. It's time to pack up your life again and head across the country in hopes of learning new things and making new friends. It's an exciting time and the start of a new adventure, but it's always hard to leave summer behind.

Here are the top 14 things most people will miss about summer!

1. Being Home

This is a given for any college student. Being at school is amazing; you're with your friends again and having a good time. But no matter how old you are, you'll always miss being at home.

2. Having free time

With school starting back up, we can all expect a pretty large workload from all of our classes. It'll be a lot harder to find time for yourself; it won't be impossible though!

3. Mom's cooking

This goes without saying. Home cooked meals are few and far between while you're away at college. You'll appreciate your mom and the fantastic food you've taken for granted your entire life!

4. Your bedroom & bed

There's literally nothing like a good night's sleep in your own room. It's what your used to, and while you're at school you don't realize how much you miss it until you're home.

5. Childhood friends

Familiar faces that bring you back to you childhood are always a good thing! Chances are, while you're away at college, you won't have that little reminder of home.

6. Adventures

Summer is full of opportunities for new adventures. Having time to just drop everything and devote an entire day to wandering new hiking trails or floating the river is something every student will miss.

7. Game nights

Whether it's a family game night or a night with your friends, game nights have always been a highlight of the summer. It's possible to have them while you're at school as well, but there's something about being with your closest friends or family make it so special.

8. A normal sleeping schedule

Getting more than five hours of sleep a night has been such a blessing. Couple that with not having to get up at the crack of dawn and life is good! But as we enter the months of 8 am classes and hours of homework, it's not likely to continue.

9. "The Squad"

Seeing old friends is one thing, but the summer is always the prime time to get together with the friends who have been, and always will be, a part of your life. Saying goodbye to these people mid August is one of the hardest things you'll have to do.

10. Nice weather

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the summer months are filled with amazing weather. Summer fades into fall and things begin to get cooler. Pretty soon, winter is in full swing, and you find yourself missing those sunny warm days.

11. Reading for fun

This doesn't apply to everyone, but books are an escape for many people. Entering fantasy worlds and becoming a part of somebody else's imagination is one of the most amazing things a person has the chance to do (in my opinion). This becomes a little difficult when the only reading you're able to participate in is your Calc II book.

12. A social life

Everyone will miss the days where they weren't spending hours in the dorm/library cramming their heads with information for their classes. Being social has so many advantages to it, and whether you're an introvert or extrovert you will more than likely find yourself missing the opportunities you had to be social.

13. Camp

Many people have a summer camp they went to as they grew up, and a lot of us have made the transition from camper to counselor. Camp will always be one of the highlights of summer, and one of the things we miss most.

14. Family

Last but far from the least is your family. It doesn't matter how old you are, you'll always miss your mommy and daddy. Saying goodbye to your family, whether it's at the airport or as they drive away from your dorm, is the hardest goodbye you'll say. Do yourself a favor and remember to call them at least once a week, it'll make your transition back to college so much easier.

Summer is coming to an end, and while everything listed above is amazing, the upcoming school year can be too!

Don't dwell on all the things you're going to miss about the past 4 months, just think of all the new adventures you'll have in the not-so-distant future.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
