I drive a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am. It was built wrong and they don't even make it anymore. It used to be my grandma's and it's a pretty good car.
But like all old cars, there are just some things that are very out-dated and lots of things I want changed. Here are 14 things you know if you drive a super old car.
1. You might still have crank windows.
This is a real arm workout and make sure you don't get caught in the rain with all your windows down.
2. You don't have automatic lights.
And don't forget to turn them off when you turn off your car.
3. You definitely don't have an AUX.
Your best bet is one of those radio transmitters you put in your cigarette lighter.
4. There's something wrong with it at least once a month.
Last month, my breaks went out. This month, my battery died.
5. You have to manually unlock your car doors.
I don't have one of those fancy key fobs that allow you to unlock the car from a mile away. I have to physically turn the key in my door to unlock it.
6. And you have to manually lock your car doors.
And don't leave your keys inside.
7. You need air fresheners.
There's just that old car smell that has stuck all these years.
8. There's marks, dents, and chipped paint.
You're probably not even sure where they all came from.
9. You may have a single CD player or just a tape player.
That one CD will play on repeat for months.
10. It never seems clean.
No matter how many times you vacuum the inside and wash the outside, it won't feel clean.
11. You're afraid your car is going to fall apart after driving over the smallest bumps.
It definitely sounds like it will.
12. You pray your car starts.
Or else that means something else is wrong with it.
13. It has a "noise."
And this "noise" has been there forever.
14. It has a nickname.
My car is called the Flintstone Mobile because it sits so low to the ground.
