14 Things I Want To Thank My Guy Best Friend For

Because sometimes a girl just doesn't cut it.

14 Things I Want To Thank My Guy Best Friend For

No matter how old you are, every girl needs a boy best friend. Someone to approve her new boyfriend, and someone who won't steal that new boyfriend. Someone to beat up her ex-boyfriend who might get jealous when he sees you without him. Someone who will tell you you're with the wrong guy, and someone who won't get jealous if you can pull off a dress that another girl cannot. Someone to be the first guy to remind you that you're good enough and you always will be. So, to my best friend, for all the things you've ever done for me, I just want to thank you...

1. For being the first guy to get a black eye for me.

I won’t take a long trip down memory lane, but you were the first guy to take a punch for me. I never asked you to do it but oddly enough, that is why it meant so much to me. I don’t think I ever thought I would meet someone who would fight for me, literally.

2. For watching out for me.

I know that you will always have my back, in a good way of course. Sometimes I can’t watch out for myself, so it’s nice to know that someone always is.

3. Introducing me to the love of my life.
If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have met the boy I’m in love with today, and I will forever be thankful for the day you brought him to my house and basically forced me to give him a chance.

4. For being the Lucas to my Haley.

Those of you who obsess over "One Tree Hill," this is self-explanatory.

5. For checking up on me at random times.

I know I can always count on you for a good two-hour phone conversation at the most random moments, which is good, because a lot happens at school in one week, we never run out of things to catch up on.

6. For being a good listener.

You are one of the three people I can count on to listen to me ramble about my girl problems, family problems, school problems, and stupid problems, for hours.

7. For reminding me to never give up.

Every time I come to you upset and unsure on what to do, you always make sure that I remember to never give up. You let me cry and be angry, but you have never allowed me to give up.

8. For never giving up on our friendship.

Needless to say, over the years of being friends, we have had a couple rough patches thanks to people who surround us. You never gave up on our friendship though, and no matter how much time came between our last conversation we were always able to pick up where we left off.

9. For being an older brother to my younger brother.

He grew up with an older sister for 18 years until you came along. You have been and always will be someone he can look up to. You can give him things and provide advice to him that his older sister might not be able to give.

11. For being kind to my parents.

My parents play a very huge role in my life and friends who are kind to them and go out of their way to make sure they don’t need help before a night over for dinner or helping my mom with yard work while my step-dad is out of town goes a long way.

12. For trusting me.

There is no better feeling then knowing someone trusts you.

13. For letting me trust you.

Well, except for being able to trust someone else.

14. For being that one person who I can say “OK but this is between you and I only” too.

I don’t think I can count how many times we have said that to one and other, I guess it's code for "OK here's my secret only you will know."

You've done a lot for me so don't forget that I will do a lot for you.

With love,

Your Girl Best Friend

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
